Regarding the upcoming version 20H2, I found that this might be relevant to some members of this forum. I don't know if Shawn has already mentioned it. If so, my apologies.

I see no difference in the Start Menu and Alt-tab does not include Edge tabs.

Like I said if it has already been mentioned, my apologies. The latter goes to you as well.

Maybe, Rich, You could wait after Patch Tuesday on the 11th (3 days from now) to see if that makes any difference. From the same link:
Right now, it is necessary to install this week's preview updates as these introduced the features in the operating system. Since it is not advised to install preview updates, administrators may want to wait to this's month's Patch Tuesday to gain access to the features. Microsoft will release security updates on August 11, 2020.

Good idea, I'll try it again after Patch Tuesday.

This was a Clean Install of 2004 19041.388 on 7.31 then updates.

Well, that was weird. My laptop updated fine from 'Optional Updates' but the desktop didn't show optional or other updates at all. So, decided to power off and restart to see if it made any difference. Clicked on shutdown then it surprised me by not shutting down and saying it was working on updates, don't turn off! Got to late 20% then shut down.

Repowered and it was the working on updates at 30%. After it finished I logged in and then it went into a 'sales pitch' about finishing up the setup and prompted for all sorts of things like 365, windows phone etc etc!!

OK, it seems to work OK but I have never seen anything like this in all the many years I have worked with Windows.

Lucky I did it and not the desktop's owner, my wife. It would have freaked her out!!

I meant that it shows that it worked for me. I don't mind repeats, in long threads it's easier to notice and find.

That's good news, but I haven't tried it yet myself on my machine running 2004. I will wait after upcoming Patch Tuesday (2 days from now) and have a go at it.

After installing the OS version line got blank (no more 2004 or anything else) is it intended to be this way on preview optional updates?

Seems like another bug from my buglord W10, ok, since it don't affects anything else at all i will not do a clean install of windows just cause of this.
Noticed that since the upgrade from 1909 to 2004 my system was mounting EFI partition as G partiton, removing the volume letter had effect just till the next reboot, so i deleted the G drive registry key, maybe this bug is a side effect.
