It's not very "optional" for me. Tick the box and 'download and install' then it goes to check for updates and says I'm up to date
The same happened to me but after doing the .Net Framework update and after the subsequent reboot I tried again and that time it worked. :)

What a shambles. CU disappeared and WU in perpetual search so decided to reboot. It stuck on 'configuring windows' screen although showed as up to date previously. Had to force power off. On booting to desktop now in this situation so will eventually get there.

Probably the average Facebook user shouldn't be installing it.
Average Facebook users should not be allowed to touch computers at all......

Also still no fix or even an acknowledgment of the Optimize Drives bug.
    of course not, Cliff S.
you should have checked the defrag.exe, defragsvc.dll & dfrgui.exe files from the Windows\System32 folder to see if they got updated to newer versions greater than 19041.84.

until MS$ provides newer defrag exe/dll versions in future 2004/20H2 cumulative updates, the defrag/optimization problem will continue to remain present.

They haven't even acknowledged it exists, is what is really getting my goat.
Not in a blog, not in known issues, not in all the threads about it in answers.microsoft.com their own forums, and not in any of the Feedback hub threads.

I really had to get on my 'Seeker' knees to beg for this one.

Several checks to get it, then different behavior between platforms. And when checking history I found what was new behavior for me, the updates appear under 'Other' instead of 'Quality Updates'. I don't recall other 'C's and 'D's doing this.
