#200
Created Ubuntu 20.10 VMs using Hyper-V and VMware WS 15.5.6. Created a barebones (command line( Fedora Rawhide VM using VMware and upgraded it to X (so I need to use startx to get a bare bones Desktop). Installing Fedora Rawhide Workstation on Hyper-V so I don't have so much work. I'll leave all 4 VMs running while we get an expected new dev build later today. We'll see how that works out ....
Hi there
@martyfelker
Given up on this build -- too many networking issues both from Host and on Windows VM's.
In my case best 100% all working combination of Windows with Linux is as Host Fedora 32 (using Fedora spins KDE) with kernel 5.7.7.200 and windows build 331.
Everything working -- Windows sees the Linux machine and the Linux machine sees the Windows machine. tested with a Windows VM under QEMU/KVM - all OK. Now will add VMWare -- both run concurrently with KVM so no probs there if I can get VMWare installed -- SAMBA seems also to be fixed properly in Fedora 32. I had a few SAMBA problems in Arch just recently so I'll continue with Fedora for the moment. Fedora also allows ssh with "X" server so can ssh to desktop OK.
No probs with Sound issues on Host or VM - USB connections also OK. (For QEMU/KVM VM's use Bridge network -- create bridge from real NIC to bridge so your VM gets full access - on Wireless though you can only use NAT currently but a get around is USB->LAN adaprer !!.
example - just 2 machines one W10 and one Linux - no interconnectivity problems.
I hope though a new build is coming out soon as the latest build has only a few days before expiry.
Cheers
jimbo
The update orchestrator is now running (MS must turn this on) so it is likely there will be a new build - probably in the next few hours. I haven't tried connecting Hyper-V and VMware VMs yet.
No new flight this week #WindowsInsiders, but there is a new #WIPPodcast for you to dig into!
This month, we're looking at how Windows Security features are defending your devices with special guest shwetajha_MS:
