    Hi folks

What's all this with how the menu look etc etc

While some *might* have a bit of fun with this -- I'm sure most Windows users would rather have a safe reliable fast OS with no bloat in it that actually works properly straight out of the box -- and especially make home networking run ist time 100% correctly instead of it always being a total lottery after each Windows release.

I don't want to stop people enjoying themselves but I do find this almost fanatical occupation with menu designs, icons etc etc a total distraction from what should be the real issue --getting a nice fast safe reliable OS (mean and lean also if poss).

If people want to design or exercise their "artistic talents" - or in some case lack of ! then there's plenty of Linux GUI's where they can do that to their hearts content - but please for people who need to use Windows in their daily work --lets have an OS that is fit for purpose in C21.

    Cheers

An update on my issue with my Audio card: I went a different route this time. I took both the nlsdl.dll files that were on SysWow64 and System32 (under c:\windows), created a rar and then copied them back after upgrading to 20161. Gladly, it worked! I got my audio device back. Still, why did the upgrade cancel that file under system32 and syswow64? Anyhoo, it worked.

Should you be using a DEV version for daily work?

    Hi there
Of course not - but surely the idea is to test it -- and evaluate the way Windows is going -- one would hope that decent features on new builds will eventually find their way into "RTM / Normal builds" .

One doesn't want eventually to upgrade to a new RTM / Final build and then find out there's all sorts of horrors in it !!!

    Cheers

Right now and last couple of Fast builds works better than 2004. Only question is what they are going to screw up in next one.

Well..., it does appear to occupy the top slot on their priority list!

    Ask them about it!

I know I shouldn't but I have gone from the Fast Ring to the Skip Ahead Ring and now to the DEV Channel. If a new build causes to much trouble I have my Macrium images that I can use to restore a previous build.

The DEV Channel has replaced the Fast and Skip Ahead Rings. There no longer are "Fast" and "Skip Ahead" rings.
