Hi there
Actually if one thinks about it - there are some merits --- it's equivalent to the "Placebo" effect in drug testing volunteers trials.
So presumably if Ms is getting reported defects from people say in either the "A" or the "B" list which haven't been rolled out yet then it shows that the whole feedback mechanism isn't working properly. I doubt though Ms would have the skill or intelligence to realize that anyway. But it's a point.
Obviously for decent testing - one should have proper discrete releases - If testing a gasoline engine or a diesel engine you presumably test each separately and anylyse how the bits are working (or not) as the case may be and know what you are testing -- you don't wrap it up in a black box and say "Engine --please test it"
Cheers
