I will stick to watching it on the very rare occasion on my NV Shield TV (I am Prime member so it is included).
And again why would I buy a Firestick when:
1) I have a Shield TV.
2) IMO they are crap (as well as loaded with spam/ads)?
I have a Roku and Amazon Prime and I can watch Spectrum TV on my PC as well, but I still like this since it's free and it works.
Hi,
FireStick is cool for t.v's with no wifi or pc capabilities.
Plug in hdmi/ power and boom sign in with amazon account all free amazon content ready.
Not needed for pc or t.v's with amazon app they already have this capability.
Hi there
Amazon firesticks are best for remote TV's that don't have built in apps --in any case usually the built in app on a TV is far more hideous than one you can sideload on your TV. The other good thing is that if you download things like KODI on a fire stick you can access any video files from your Server whether linux or Windows and also in 4K UHD where appropriate.
Any "external type of stick" is OK for this stuff -- The latest amazon firesticks though have a nice powerful ARM processor in them so the apps run far better than native apps on most TV's --also you usually can connect via an ethernet cable -- lots of TV's don't have ethernet connectio(s) and often wifi will only support 2.4GHZ.
As for amazon firesticks being loaded with a load of "crapware" --not true -- you can always do a "Factory reset" and then sideload things you want. Netflix and Amazon Prime are generally available on them as standard (account required) for those tow applications though).
I prefer watching Movies with proper sound etc on a nice large 55 inch TV rather than using some smaller PC screen -- in any case who wants to sit at a computer all day long !!! - When watching movies etc I like to eat and drink -- Whisky / Beer etc near computer screens can be a "recipe for disaster" -- c'mon guys - be honest --whose never spilt a copy of coffee on your workbench / desk or worse - a cup hot chocolate !!! --and those are bad enough.
Cheers

OK I get it, you love your Firestick.
The App on the NV Shield is the official Android TV App it is not some phone sideloaded app and it came preinstalled along with Netflix which was a 1st ever for both at that time.
Again for me my device is far superior to any Amazon device and I use a Logitech Harmony Elite Remote with it.
And is IS true its preloaded with crap out the box, you just admitted it also it is tied to your whole Amazon account.
EDIT: 1.0.4.0-Release
Same old.
1.0.4.0-Release
