After installing this update on my 20H2 install, winver says im on 19042.292

ha ha! I guess that's by design as KB4567523 is an out-of-band update for 20H1 only (and showing the proper build for 20H1)
    besides 20H2 is in beta

I'll wait another month or two to really try out 20H2 or wait for a revised/newer package for 20H2 (and for the next CU for 20H2)

but for my custom built PC running v2004, I'll remove KB4566866 asap and install KB4567523

There should be no need to remove the previous CU, KB4567523 will replace it anyway.

Are there any downsides of installing it even if printers seem to work fine?

Then you are just a beta tester.

This is the EXACT same scenario a couple of months ago when a Microsoft update killed all the vpn internet access. The emergency patch was not on WU. The rest of us got the patch on patch tuesday a few weeks later.

For some reason I cannot run an elevated command prompt or elevated power shell prompt on any of my computers with this build. Is this a known issue? I can run a standard command prompt and standard power shell but elevated will not accept input.

Thanks for response. All other windows build work but this release blocks my going to administrative level of command.

That is a rather strange issue to come up. No such issue here, either. Please expand a bit - what do you mean by "cannot run" and "will not accept input". This is a strange one!

No problems with admin Shell or PowerShell here either.
