It is the second build that you report the same issue. Go into Control Panel and uninstall the.net file. I did run last build without the.net KB file with no issues for a week. Restart and see if the bug persist.

You may also try to run maintenance after and while you're there, see under security if something is wrong.

You may also try to get the latest definition from cmd (admin) to see if you get an error or if security center is back to normal after.

Did you install an app recently that may have caused this?

    See procedure there:

It’s weird because when I check for updates every morning I get security intelligence update... success ... and I see the updates as successful.... and when I booted into this build it worked, Its after I did my cleanup it didnt launch,. I’m gonna check the script I have to make sure it’s not purging folders in “program data” Microsoft.. windows... defender.

In definition updates theirs a folder called default and I deleted it as part of my script since theirs always a update folder. I’m going to go edit the script to not purge that folder, I never had a issue with this in the past as in definition updates theirs default and then theirs the update folder with the new definitions..

I do not know what happened. After restart, keyboards (laptop and external) stopped working. Writing this with on-screen keyboard.

Yes. Volume and mute buttons work, no other keys. Booting to same build on native boot VHD, keyboard OK.

    Hi folks
I had that issue on laptop - external wireless mouse and keyboard stopped working too -- however I was presented with a WU update immediately after installing this build which just said cumulative update for .net 3.5 and 4.8 -- must have had other things too since after reboot everything was working properly !! --even Networking !!! and language finally not hosed up with a hodgepotch of screens partly in one language and partly in another. That cumulative update must IMO have contained a lot more than just the .Net updates !! Well secrecy at Ms I suppose !!

Only thing I notice now is if you use the remove hardware feature for an external USB HDD the notification appears while the led on the HDD is still flashing -- wait until the led stops flashing as data is still being written to the drive --probably via cache -- so the safe to remove feature needs to be used carefully with this release or you potentially can lose data.

BTW my keyboard is an old ISL one connected via a PS/2 (the round old IBM type thing) to a USB wireless adapter so probably not surprising it didn't work ist time -- the WU update seemed to have got it all fixed !!.

This update plus re-boot did the trick (network, language, keyboard, mouse, laggy performance) so what exactly was in it ??

    Desktop Stability

    @Steven Campoli
Each time security center is crashing, it generates a critical error, what is that error? In view error report and/or in event viewer.

Does a fresh insider build needs to be cleaned other then with specialized tools such as Ccleaners, Revo & al.

They never damage the system. If they do, you'll get a correction very fast. When Windows is over tweaked, you get a similar result that you're experiencing. Your script seems to be the reason why you have bugs that we don't have.

You are right, I checked what it was and it was because I was deleting a folder that it needed. Forget my post lol and thanks for replying. I fixed it :)

No problem, first time, WU...took ~25m to download and ~11m to install to disk as an upgrade in the offline portion. Quick--easy, not much to these latest builds--which is a good sign, I think. They've stopped trying to reinvent the wheel with each build, hopefully!

    Hi there

Why even invent the wheel in the first place !!!!--- the Inca's managed extremely successfully without it (until the conquistadors arrived who killed them all off with their Horses and diseases imported from Spain).

Lesson perhaps to Ms --"Don't get too clever by half". Make sure what you are doing works with improvements --even if it is beta (or even alpha release level) testing for many.

    Cheers
