Thru all the releases of W10, this one is the only one which has forced me to revert back to the previous release.

A sad commentary, but this is reality

Three PCs done and no problems, no new bugs and they don't affect me anyway, one can get too hung up on things like event viewer, if it doesn't affect performance it's not worth getting wound up over.

After all the problems I had getting the 2004 update to install, I was happy that the two systems I finally got it installed on accepted the KB4557957 Cumulative Update with no issues.

I am starting to lose any faith I ever had in the leadership at Microsoft. This 2004 is really 20H1 and 20H2 will be just another CU changing 19041.XXX to 19042.XXX. This may be the first time since 10 was launched that the build in the fast ring is more stable than the current release. The FRB can at least recall the last time an SSD was optimized.
    Hi there
still can't get Networking to function correctly on Fast Ring build - doesn't recognize any non Windows things like NAS systems etc -- I even tried 3 different Linux OS's on the NAS systems so I know its not a Linux / NAS problem -- especially when the current W10 1909 build works perfectly !!!

Perhaps Ms should subcontract future Windows development back to IBM (sort of "back to the future !!!") -- at least IBM's OS's from mainframes (MVS,DOS/VSE etc) to the venerable OS/2 always worked reliably and with them owning Redhat which itself produced stable enterprise level server releases hugely used worldwide - I suspect the reliability of RHEL, CENTOS and FEDORA (the 3 Linux distros from the Redhat stable) will be even more reliable within their remit --FEDORA is the "experimental" or more leading edge build while CENTOS and RHEL are built for 100% rock solid stability more suitable for servers.

Networking IMO has always been a problem for Windows - but these days it should be mainstream even for small home "Mom and Pop" computers -- I don't think I know a single household that doesn't use some type of networking / file sharing etc.

    Cheers

Apparently you have not reinstalled Windows 10, either 1909 or 2004 and are still on Slow Ring.

I am not now, nor have I ever been an Insider. I do not even have an MS account. This is what Windows Update delivered to my RTM W10 Home 1909, according to AIDA64....

It's clearly showing as OS Version 10.0.19041.264 (Win10 20H1 [2004] Insider Preview). I checked after @Cliff S first raised this issue for all his upgrades using the ISO made by the MCT.

Edit: Going back to its previous MR image pre-update and running it as a viBoot virtual machine, it was certainly the RTM release version before updating it via Windows Update.

I just bought a new laptop with Intel Optane. As I understand things, the 2004 update will be held back because of this hardware. Could someone please confirm this? I am having no issues with 1909 and do not mind waiting.
