Hopefully that was an optinal update?

It was an automatic update when I accidentally looked at the notification area about the restart only I came to know about this update

Okay thanks. Personally I don't like the idea of having no choice but to flash the bios.

No problem, yes it's not very safe updating BIOS automatically but this happens only in this Insider build and I'm sure that MS is aware of it.

Of course MS is aware of it otherwise the update wouldn't be there. Regardless of Windows version if a bios flash goes wrong then the computer could be bricked. I'm sure it will go okay though.

This one thing Dell (Alienware) got right. I get an email notification of BIOS updates and a link to download the .exe package. It's a very clean process and makes a BIOS backup prior to re-flashing. Still a spooky process to watch, always has been, always will be. But this way at Ieast I have control of when.

Yes, I agree that it's a spooky process but I think MS is experimenting in these Insider builds with BIOS updates, so far I have done 3 updates successfully through WU, as long as the users keep their fingers away from the keyboard it will be fine, I guess.

    Hi folks

Anybody got one of these from Ms by email.

    Windows 10 Insider Preview Fast Build 19640.1 (mn_release) - June 3-win.png

Surely Ms have heard of Virtual Machines etc etc -- I use the standard Windows for normal Windows stuff -- why would I use an insider build for doing "actual paid work for clients etc" and am quite happy to test insider builds at home - where I don't use that machine while working on Clients projects (Freelance).

I can't be the only person who runs more than one build of Windows --surely !!!.

C'mon Ms it's C21 now -- people are capable (as is the hardware these days) of running several versions of Windows !!!!

I'm still daily running, using and making money by using hardware and some software connected to an XP VM !!!!

Here's the XP system running a Mini Disc application -- who remembers those -- actually they were great in their day --smart phones etc better but I was using the MD software to copy a "Virtual Audio CD" (self made) to MD. I still have an excellent stand alone MD player with decent speakers -- much better than any computer cheap speaker set which is designed more for games / effects in films etc than pure music --that's another issue though.

    Cheers
