Well, it's not coming via WU - so what this fuss is all about?

'Staged release'? For a blooming browser?

Or: 'my machine is not ready' yet?

    Pathetic.

not sure i get it.. will this update be pushed on to a 1909 system with the current (not Chromium based) MS Edge?
Currently not getting anything on my end, even after clicking on Check for Updates button.
I got this update for Chromium Edge on my machine running 1909 a few days ago when I manually checked for updates on WU. Funny thing was, at the same time I was downloading and installing 2004 on another computer (offered via WU - not forced). The machine updated successfully to 2004 but with legacy Edge. Go figure!

Funny thing -- Edge Update is not listed under Control Panel>Programs and Features, but, it is shown in Local Disc (C:) Program Files. If I find any info about it, I'll post it here.
Mine is shown under "apps" in Start/Settings. That's why I asked if I can remove it since it looked so out of place, but if it's part of keeping Edge updated, I won't.

Didn't think to look there. Sure enough, Settings>Apps>Apps & Features -- Edge Update is right under Edge. But the option to modify/uninstall Edge Update is grayed out on my rig. The app for Edge itself can be uninstalled. I suspect if that's done (I'm not doing it), it "might" take the Edge Update app with it. Who knows?

    Nope.

This update replaces the old Microsoft Edge with the new Chromium base Microsoft Edge.

This update will not be available if you have already installed the new Microsoft Edge (stable).

I have a followup question, what happens if you have an outdated version of Edge does it still pick up the install?

eg. I have v83.0.478.44 and it seems current as of right now is v83.0.478.45, would Windows Update download Edge or not?

Since you already have Microsoft Edge (stable) installed, it will not be available via Windows Update.

Instead, you would need to check for updates in Microsoft Edge itself for 83.0.478.45 which should eventually be available.

Question about this? Am I ever going to see this offered via Windows Update if I've already downloaded the new Edge (currently sitting at v83.0.478.44) standalone?

First Post newbie. Hope I'm in the right thread. If not, please redirect me.

KB 4559309 just installed automatically. The effects:

Boot up did not follow normal process, but it did boot.

No access to Internet - icon has disappeared from bottom bar, including other icons e.g. battery indicator (laptop Dell G5 15) near the clock in the bottom RH corner.

Clicking on certain things does nothing e.g. in settings/wifi, show available networks link does nothing.

Clicking on pinned apps like chrome in bottom bar does not open a window. If I mouse hover over the icon, it shows a mini window. Right click/maximise does nothing.

    Troubleshooter not operational.

Cannot uninstall update - uninstall icon not present on relevant page.

2 reboots did not make any difference.

There's probably more that I haven't yet come across.

Any ideas on how I can solve this nightmare?

    Thanks.
