I installed 2004 for the first time a few days ago on 4 laptops after finally being given the ok via Windows Update and it's been smooth sailing since. I didn't even get any integrity errors with sfc scan afterwards. System is fast and stable. I'd say it took about 2.5 hours to install on my laptops and an hour or so on my little flash drive netbooks. Of course it's possible an update may have an issue with a given configuration at any time so I would recommend to do a backup before this way if there are any issues there is the option to go right back very quickly. I use Macrium reflect (free) for this.
Backups are best but for those who didn't you can still roll back to the previous version in the first ten days. Go Back to the Previous Version of Windows in Windows 10
Seems to work OK I am very happy with that. Only the bug that is on our other system is also to be found here.
Bug = Opening Windows System page resets NVIDIA control panel settings.
I can live with that now I know.
What can I check to see if there's a setting/driver/machine specific issue that is preventing me from getting the 2004 update? I'm using Win10 Pro (upgraded a year ago from Win10 Home). Two other machines I run on my home LAN (Pro and Home) have already updated.
Is there something I can or should look into to make sure there's no gremlin preventing the update?
