@Jen1 Thanks for that but there is no executable in win10.7z that I can see and the ME dvr failed. Ended prematurely with "Fatal error during installation". Very illuminating! Several log files but can't see what went wrong.

I had already updated video dvrs.

It didn't crash overnight so will give it a couple of days to see if some magic has occurred!
That was my bad I linked the wrong file, you have a corporate ME firmware, although the old file should work as well.

try this one instead Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI/AMT) Version 11.7.0.1069 WHQL

The info file is still the same, even the first file should work, strange it doesn't.

Hmmmmm could you have corrupted firmware? I am suspecting that now, but not sure,

Any way, you have the driver 11.6, I think it is better and advised if you update to the the latest driver for you firmware 11.7,

Did you uninstall the old driver before? I told to remove it?

as @Don1052, said, I wrote before also, right click on the INF file and click install, this should do the trick faster than going to the device manager and manually update.

@Jen1 Current IME ver is 11.7.0.1057.
Tried 11.7.0.1069 you linked to but it failed to install.
Hasn't crashed for three days now so will cross fingers and wait and see!

Thanks very much for your help - much appreciated.

    Fingers crossed X

It hasn't crashed for 3 days now so am inclined to hold on, as is, to see whether it is OK now.

I just wanted to add that when I checked on the B450 machine yesterday that 2004 was being offered so I installed it without incident.

So I had my HP 255 G7 Laptop on the Windows 10 May 2020 Update before I upgraded some hardware (RAM and a bigger SSD) in it. But stupid me did it wrong, so I had to start over from my recovery partition. However, now I am now no longer being offered the Update anymore. It just says it's on it's way and for me to learn more. I assume that there is some sort of upgrade block, but what could it possibly be now? It's been a month now since I did the hardware upgrades on it.

UPDATE 7/22: Known and Resolved issues for Windows 10 May 2020 Update version 2004

Current status as of July 22, 2020
Windows 10, version 2004 is available for users with devices running Windows 10, versions 1903 and 1909, who manually seek to “Check for updates” via Windows Update. We are now starting a new phase in our rollout. Using the machine learning-based (ML-based) training we have done so far, we are increasing the number of devices selected to update automatically to Windows 10, version 2004 that are approaching end of service. We will continue to train our machine learning through all phases to intelligently rollout new versions of Windows 10 and deliver a smooth update experience. The recommended servicing status is Semi-Annual Channel.

Still no message on 2004 with a manual update on 1909, "you are up to date"

I wish they would give a reason or some info.

I did the optional update yesterday, thinking it might be one step closer to some info, but nothing but crickets.

nope, nada, its like I am all up to date.
Funny thing I have VMware VM on this system and I tried the first day and got the update, no issues I can tell other than known ones, it's a VM so not much installed on it.

I probably won't go ahead with install knowing all the issues but I like it to be available w/o forcing it.

I got a folder called UNP, or something like that, under program files when Windows created those messages for me in Windows Update, do you have that folder? I don't know why you and some don't even have that message yet. Microsoft is mysterious.
