ok so i'm not parnoid to say the least when you guys are on newest windows update 2004 and whenever it checks for updates important stuff instead it downloads pending and installs
underneath that pending you see that install now button you click on that button and it install updates that's normal right
again maybe I saw that happened 1st time I went into windows 2004 back in june last month next day when check for updates pend I saw that install now button I don't recall if I did or it automatically install update after pending
It seems to depend on the type of update, and whether it was found automatically of by you clicking 'check for updates'. As far as I have seen, it appears to work like this.....
Updates like those for Flash or the antimalware platform seem to treated as important security updates and will install automatically however they were found. Cumulative updates seem to be regarded as less urgent, and if found by the automatic check seem to always be 'pending' until you click a Download button.
If you click 'Check for updates' that seems to be regarded as you giving permission in advance to download and install anything that's found.
A few years back it was different, any update would download and install automatically in Home. Then MS seemed to have bowed to pressure and, in particular, made Feature Updates completely optional. MS also introduced the 'Pause updates' option for Home and Pro.
The Download button beneath cumulative updates seemed to appear about the same time. MS seem to have tweaked exactly how/when you see it over time, but the general principle seems to be 'there's an update, it's not optional but we'll let you decide when to let it install'.
If it doesn't seem to be consistent behaviour, that's probably because MS are still fine tuning how it works
yes like I said when it found cumulative updates today it pend then I saw underneath install now button<-I click on that then it will install that cumulative update
now when it finds new definitions it downloads and install automatically but man I swear unless my eyes deceives me when I 1st went into windows update 2004 last month when it found updates the next day it just started to install after pending never saw that install now update maybe I did don't recall
its just odd 2nd time around I went back into 2004 yesterday and today when it check updates that happened so again not sure this month started or what
I just dread now whenever it checks for updates pending all of a sudden like next time it finds a cumulative update that install now button going to be shown underneath
everything is still the same as far it was back in 1909 in advance options receive windows update turned on
download over meter off restart this device off shown notification when pc required a restart finished update
is it still blocked for many of you, or have they increased the availability after todays cumulative update?
My Intel Atom laptop, AMD X570 and X370 machines were offered the update but the B450 is on hold.
Still blocked on my HP Zbook 15v G5, and still blocked on my HP Spectre x2 12-a004Tu.
On the Spectre x2 it will be because of conexant audio drivers, however my device manufacturer has not updated those since May 2017 and repeated checks for updates via device manager states I am using the best drivers for my system. The only updates HP have provided for the Spectre x2 in the last few years has been a couple of new BIOS update and firmware updates for the MEI. There has been no updates since the aforementioned in Dec 2019. HP do not seem interested in supporting this four year old model anymore, so not even sure if this will be fixed so 2004 can go ahead.
I've no idea why it's blocked on my Zbook 15v. The N-Videa display drivers are the latest, and I don't think any other the other unresolved issues apply to my machine. It does not have Realtek Bluetooth, nor conexant audio drivers, I don't have HASP installed and while I do have a Thunderbolt 3 USB port - I don't use a Thunderbolt dock. I use that port to connect a 4K monitor. So I figure it can only be the Integrated Intel GPU thingy which MS have been "investigating" since May 27th, but I'm not sure that actually even applies to my machine.
The only machine that has been updated is my Gigabyte P37x V5, which happens to be my oldest computer (2015). That was offered the update on the day it was released, but I waited a week to install it. The installation went seamlessly. The only probs are the known ones: ESENT errors +++++, & the defrag thing. That machine has both integrated Intel graphics and N-Videa graphics, and there was never a block on it, so I can't see why there would be on the Z-book either.
