My "proof" is in the fact that I tried forcing the update on my backup system and long story short the PC is now in an infinite boot loop state - How to get the Windows 10 May 2020 Update version 2004

Totally agree, don't try to force the update.
    Hi,
I forced it a few times just for kicks on z490 and only issue I noticed was the immersed floating search bar of Brinks killed the start menu on 2004
That's a total of one issue, third time I reverted the reg file for minimal search interface first and boom no issues after.
    Sure was no boot loops/...
Did it on x299 rig too.

How is your " Optimizing SSD/HDD ".............we can not believe in " no issues " , while almost everyone has..........!

Everyone has their own story based on their own configuration - and my configurations is quite different from yours in both hardware and software. But yes, some will succeed some will fail - nature of the beast.

As for the boot loop issue I did say I'm not quite sure the "forced" updated did that; but I do know all attempted update paths failed and after that.... infinite boot loops.

That was on the backup system, I've not tried to update my main system or main laptop. My 2013 Asus laptop is running the insider program and it's running 2004 without apparent issues.

If you don't have a backup like Acronis, better not try it, unless you have a day to waste.

Uh, yeah... that goes without saying

And BTW, I am an Acronis user (let the attacks begin)
