How to get the Windows 10 May 2020 Update version 2004

With the slew of issues being cited for this upgrade, I think I am going to wait it out until 20H2 and even beyond. I have it (20H1) installed on my second non-production machine for testing purposes. That's about it, but I cannot afford to have my main rig not to work properly. Aside from other issues on the latter, my main problem is that I have two password-protected Western Digital external HDDs, bought in 2010, where I could not enter my password to get access to my data. That has never happened to me in the past with other upgrades.

Consider that even MS's own Surface Pro 7 cannot get the Windows 10 May upgrade installed. That really speaks volumes. Go figure!

    Hi,
Only took like 15 minutes to install 2004 mounting the iso without internet.
After seeing the lame new start menu and only showing 5 apps I was like okay lol what kind of sad joke is this

    Drew, sorry for the snip..

My backup rig has none of the known issues listed and yet it's not been offered the update either

There is a hard block some are seeing on check for updates, and what I will call a soft block on many others. The soft block is the MS staggered rollout, details of which only Redmond knows. This is IMO, strictly IMO, but I would not be surprised at all if the "soft block" is being expanded as the feedback and real life filters back to Redmond.
Certainly makes sense to me and one I can agree with. And this also falls in line with my feeling the update was rushed as thus the "cautious rollout". I say that because of the "aggressive" block features no matter the source of install.

    Hi,
Can't see how it was rushed seeing they said it was on hold because of covid19.

Agree with this whole heartedly. As as tomcat said it's odd a lot of new custom built systems aren't being offered the update. And between my two desktops only the main one has a possible issue where it uses Realtek drivers for the soundcard. That's it. My backup rig has none of the known issues listed and yet it's not been offered the update either

And as many have noted even forcing the update brings issues that many have reverted back. So, yeah, if you're not offered it don't force it, especially on your primary system.
I don't think there is any problem with Realtek audio - it's Realtek Bluetooth that's the problem.

I'm blocked, presumably due to Intel HD 630 graphics...

Hmm. I've got Intel HD 620 graphics and I wasn't blocked. Maybe because it's a lappy it doesn't have variable refresh rate.

I don't know much about it - I'd just heard that HD 630 had a block on it. In the 'Known Issues' it just says something to the effect of 'we don't recommend seeking it now' - no mention of a block that I can see.

On this same machine, I have clean install of 2004, and also upgraded my 1909 with the ISO, and both work fine (except for the defrag bug and lacking update pausing options). I immediately restored the Macrium image of 1909 I'd made just before upgrading - I really want to see when this machine will be offered 2004...

    Are you talking about this?

How to get the Windows 10 May 2020 Update version 2004-search.png

If so, you are looking at Search, not Start.

If not, please post a screenshot as I don't understand what you are talking about. My Start looks the same after the upgrade to 2004 as it did in 1909.

PS: the screenshot above is from 1909, Search looks the same in 2004 as it did in 1909 too.

No update here yet for Dell Optiplex 780 or Elitebook G640.

More than that, it's a necessity.
