It's not that simple. Also now that we have "forced updates" most people will be like : "must keep everything up to date no matter what" when in reality it's like that at all.
I gotta give credit to MS though they relied on people wanting to buy they're product and like i said if they were to remove this feature in the next OS it would be a huge advantage for them. People are gonna buy the OS either way because they're gonna want the latest OS - this applies especially to companies who legally should be running the latest OS because in some countries that's just how the law is regarding this.
Right now only W10 is supported so yeah you're right. But i can't help but wonder if the "forced update" feature will be in the next OS they make. I think the next OS they release is either going to :
- make people buy they're OS regardless if they change the WU or not
OR
- they're sales will suffer heavily because people get might fed up and not buy it at all just because they refuse to waste their money on something that might or might not have changed
If they make like 1+1 type of deal, get 2 licenses for price of 1 it might be advantageous for them but somehow i don't see them going for that option.
The OS segment is not a revenue growth engine for Microsoft. It's all about the cloud, LinkedIn and github.
So Microsoft is not going to care.
Yeah until you get the famous "your copy windows of windows is not genuine" message. Or end up with some version from torrents that's filled with bugs and other crap.
No matter what in the end you have to buy it. They made W10 in such a way that the consumer really has no option if they want a good OS. Hell i bought it just for gaming because games are starting to drop support for W7 and i'm satisfied overall with W10.
The only good thing people have is that there are numerous other websites where you can get a W10 license much cheaper instead of paying 200-300 euros for it retail.
If they actually do remove the "forced updates" feature in the next OS it will probably sell like crazy. It's up to MS though if they choose to make to consumer happy or if they might actually dig their own grave by not removing it in the next OS the make.
I don't own a LAPTOP if that's what you were reffering to that comes pre-installed with OS. And yes pre-build PCs do come with OS also but those aren't for gaming. Any good gamer knows that a gaming PC is best bought by parts and not pre-build even if the pre-build isn't that bad.
Also the PC i have is over 15 years old. I just keep upgrading it every 3-4 years. There was a time when i didn't buy license for OS but in the end i had to.
