Thunderbolt controller is Intel (Intel driver), BT is Killer Networks (Killer driver) ... GA-Z270X-Gaming 8 (rev. 1.0) | Motherboard - GIGABYTE U.S.A.. Also the audio driver is Creative
I new you had the Intel Thunderbolt, wasn't sure about bluetooth. Do these conditions hold?

"Intel and Microsoft have found incompatibility issues when Windows 10, version 2004 (the Windows 10 May 2020 Update) is used with certain settings and a Thunderbolt dock. On affected devices, you might receive a stop error with a blue screen when plugging or unplugging a Thunderbolt dock. Affected Windows 10 devices will have at least one Thunderbolt port, have Kernel DMA Protection enabled and Windows Hypervisor Platform disabled. To verify your Kernel DMA Protection settings, please see How to check if Kernel DMA Protection is enabled. To verify your Windows Hypervisor Platform settings, select Start, type turn windows features on or off and select it. When the Windows Features dialog opens, find the setting for Windows Hypervisor Platform. If it is note checked, then Windows Hypervisor Platform is disabled.

To safeguard your update experience, we have applied a compatibility hold on Windows 10 devices with affected drivers or firmware from being offered Windows 10, version 2004."

They are using a big stick.

Nothing yet offered for my 8 month old HP laptop. I do admire those here willing to rush into being guinea pigs for MS. I'll wait at least 2 months until the inevitable feature upgrade bugs due to poor MS software engineering are sorted out.

I don't use Thunderbolt so none of those should apply, but... I did enable Kernel DMA Protection a while back cause it was something I read I should do. I know Hypervisor is disabled cause I checked for it.

Anyway, I honestly think Microsoft is being overly cautious by throwing a wide "just in case" net over stuff. That would explain (in my mind) why no matter what you do to get the update it fails and / or causes issues.

With that, I'm not going to stress over it and pretty made up my mind to wait a couple of weeks in seeing what Microsoft does before pursuing the update again. Besides, remember, I got a new camera to play with so sitting around trying to force an update on a PC not ready for it is a waste of time. Time I could be using to enjoy my new toy

    Appreciate the suggestions though

Ok, but it doesn't matter if you are using thunderbolt or not. Sounds like if it detects you have thunderbolt, drivers installed, and you have these other conditions, it will block the update.

Installed in two different ways , first with the "assistent" , then after roll back to previous 1909 , with the media ( MS-DVD).
Both ways seems to succeed , only............one thing really bothers me ; the annoying warnings in the eventvieuwer ; ESENT id=642 .
Searching for solution everywhere , there is none !!
Find out its a MS-bug ............thinking of going back to 1909 again , with clean eventlog ......!!
