Also will users with 1903 be able to update directly from 1903 to 2004 ? If not now then at least later on ?
When I updated from 1803 to 1903, using the Update assistant, the upgrade didn't force me to update to 1809 first, and then do another update. Try the assistant, before it begins downloading it will show you the number of the W10 version you ll be upgraded to, so you ll know if what you ll be upgraded to is what you want.

Right now 1903 is really good and i'm very happy with.

Also didn't 1909 have some issues with windows explorer if i remember right ? Were those ever solved ?
If you like 1903, you ll probably like 1909. For me both versions were very good. One as good as the other. Also, never had any kind of issues with File explorer.

Mikey89's thinking is completely contrary to conventional wisdom.

With the disastrous 1809 and now coronavirus delays, Microsoft is going back to 1 major and 1 minor updates per year.

1909 is a minor update, any problems associated with it have been minor.

2004 is a major update, any problems associated with it can potentially take the next 12 months to sort out. Mikey is waiting for a "stable" 2004 that MAY NEVER COME.

The only reaction from MS to coronavirus is that 1809 has had it's end of support extended. MS first used the '1 major and 1 minor' update sequence for 1903/1909 and it has long been rumoured that it was to be their update strategy from then on.

So far it's proving stable for me on my machines that were offered it. But I wouldn't recommend forcing it onto any machine that doesn't offer it in Windows Update.

I think that Bree sums it all up very well.

Hello @vstar, I got that one too. It was already included in feature update, which I had from MCT. But then, a few hours later came again via WU and didn't require restart. Anyway, everything seems smooth, waiting for more surprises.
Hello Ivan, thanks for sharing. Yea, everything runs smoothly. Cliff explained that installed or uninstalled Internet Explorer/Sandbox/Application Guard after updating to 2004, may cause WU rerun the CU.
You may also want to check Windows Security-> App&browser control-> Reputation-based protection, mine turned it off for some reason after getting the CU.

Have you both either installed or uninstalled Internet Explorer, Sandbox, or Application Guard after updating?

When you make install changes to those, Windows will either redownload and install, or just reinstall if you have not yet cleaned up Windows Update the latest Cumulative Update.
It has always done that, because it needs to adjust changes for security updates.

For a major update, it seems to me there wasn't a a lot significantly updated. No candy. No new apps. New features? How about you can now make the calculator stay on top? Wow! Now that might be somewhat useful, but you can only do that in standard mode and you loose the memory keys! How hard is this? Why does my PC have a phone app that I am not allowed to uninstall? Oh yeah, I can maybe use my PC to make phone call or SMS through my phone. Oops, only if I am logged into my Microsoft account on both my android phone and PC. Quit trying to shove your Microsoft account down my throat.! don't want to be logged in online from my PC.

Old Windows 95 style windows still mixed in with metro style, a dark theme that is half-baked with what seems like half of windows stuck in the windows 95 theme. Why can't MS fix that for goodness sake. At least MacOS has more uniformity - though buggy release breaking software as well - but their development team seems to work with one vision. Microsoft seems like a bunch of disconnected yahoo teams floating in different seas with no unifying vision.

And oh yeah, I had to put up with BSODs during the update and after had to redo dozens of customizations because the update wiped them out as usual. For what

    /end rant

Sorry, when Windows 10 first came out I was excited because they introduced a lot of technical improvements: compressed memory, UASP support, etc., and I accepted that the user interface was half-baked with the initial release, but how long has it been?
