. Exactly, I mean exactly the same thing happened to me, if that can be of any solace. In a way, that doesn't bother me a bit since I am in no way ready to upgrade my production machine to 2004. My second machine (second PC in my profile's Specs, a brand new rig) has it (20H1) and I was having this issue with the monitor going black, from time to time all day yesterday, while in the middle of doing some tasks. I cannot tell whether it is the latest NVIDIA's Driver update or 2004. Today the issue seems to have stopped (fingers crossed).

    ----updated----
Just happened to me again right after finishing the above post.
Yesterday this happened on my PC too. Its been offered and available and ready to download and install for the last 3 weeks. I decided to wait a month or so before installing it but now its telling me its not ready for my device yet. Very strange indeed

WOOOW!. This is a good one. Following up on my previous post #822, this is what happened to me before yesterday. I was trying to do a repair install on my new rig (Asus ROG Strix) because of some issues I was having (like Monitor going black from time to time at 1hr interval, which I happened to fix after removing all the nasty bloatware that it came with). After using MCT from Microsoft Download center on a USB stick, I double-clicked on the setup.exe for it to run. This was what I got:

From this screenshot, the message said: "Your PC settings are not supported yet on this version of Windows 10". How awesome!. I don't understand what MS is trying to convey. My new rig is already on 2004 as can be seen here:

That doesn't make any valid sense to me. I am supposed to follow MS's directives, but when one got that kind of message, it is worth wondering if the aftermath of the pandemic, specifically the telecommuting is not starting to have its toll on MS's operation which is becoming close to an unruly mess. I know that it is very hard for everyone in these changing times, but I think a better job has got to be done at the level of the AI and ML (Machine Learning).

MS does not know what is going on with the whole Windows 10 'WaaS' thing, and it goes back way before covid-19. It is out of control - too much complexity, too many hardware platforms, too much period. Add to that MS's traditional ineptitude at communication, and what you have is the 'release' of Windows 2004, such as it is. I'm pretty much done with Windows.

Good luck with Linux or Mac OS.

I do however, agree that the many PC configurations is what's probably causing MS so much grief with this release; however, this can not be a surprise to MS seeing the big plus and why many use Windows is because of it's ability to handle a multitude of builds and software.

BTW, I've not gotten the update on 3 of 4 of my PCs - 1 laptops, two desktops. The other laptop is running the insider's edition so it has the latest and greatest Windows 10 build. So, yeah, I too am looking for this update.

    Anyway good luck.

I'm 99% Linux these days (Mac just doesn't do it for me at all). I've been dual-booting Linux and Windows for over 20 years now, so it's no big deal. I am retired, so I have no 'need' for Windows, other than to support my partner who needs to use Windows in the pursuit of her PhD. I fully understand that there are millions of people out there that 'need' Windows for their jobs... I was one of them for the longest time. I no longer am.

After all these years (and I've been a MS customer since 1980 - MBASIC on CP/M) I have come to the conclusion that MS simply doesn't have the Windows 10 machine under control - most every update is a clusterfrack in one way or another. I have come to believe that they honestly don't have the technological/organizational chops to do it. And their communications with their customers are very ambiguous and misleading, when they even bother to communicate. I don't think it's going to get better. It's not a company I want to do business with, or really have anything to do with if I can help it.

This is just the tech stuff - haven't even gotten into the privacy/corporate ethics side of things... Good luck to us all!

Don't get me wrong. I love MS's OS. I have been using it for as long as when I first started using a computer, but I just don't want them to go off-track. When you have a car that has an engine problem, you don't go putting oil, changing the tire, and do a body shop job and keep on going. This is just a recipe for disaster. The many bugs we are having right now are calling for fixes before going any further.

Well then you should understand this is really nothing new - all OS upgrades re prone to bugs and such. As bad as this one is as far as being ready for prime time, it wasn't pulled like 1903 was for a short period. That said, being so many machines can't be upgraded because of some magical MS lock, perhaps this should have been pulled as well until fixed.

Many (not me) already felt like Windows went "off-track" with the introduction of Windows 8, and now further with 10. I myself embraced the change... but then I'm a geek at heart

Anyway, overall I agree this latest upgrade release is an utter fiasco.

Looks like it might have been.
Up until last night the "Feature Update" was available for download on the PC I'm currently using.

More of the same: Windows 10 Optional Feature Update 2004

Now you see me, now you don't.

8 known issues reported on 5/27. Still "Investigating". 5 or 6 of those are generating a hard lock on the upgrade.
