You're probably affected by the staggered roil-out. Not much you can do about that. Be aware..... MS does not advise forcing the update if you have not been offered it. Just because you have not been offered it does not mean there could be an issue(s) with it on your machine. MS can't tell you that you're incompatible for some reason if it's not offered to you.
IMHO -
Microsoft has still not put in enough corporate resources for QA.
2004 has been on the Insider Ring for quite a while now.
It's no biggie but they should have learned from the past.
They should have completed most of their "laundry list" of corrections before release.
Smooth Microsoft updates matter!
My second generation (2017) Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga is listed as compatible, but Windows Update is still telling me my laptop isn't ready
I also checked the laptop against Lenovo's servers for drivers and firmware updates and none were found. It would be nice if Microsoft (Windows Update) could tell you what the specific issue is to the PC at hand.
I haven't been offered the 2004 update yet either. Heck,..I haven't even had the message some of you have had telling me there is an update coming but I'm not ready for it yet, or words along those lines. Not a sausage. I'm in no hurry. I'm not going to force the update or do it manually. I'll wait for WU to offer it. That's when I'll start sweating and panicking!
Still zero response for the update on my two candidates. But, like others, lots of Defender updates!
If I click on the "learn more" tab - under the 2004 block message by Windows Update -, it will link me to a known issue page on docs.microsoft. What I find interesting here is that it tells me;
Could it be it's blocked because I haven't manually checked for updates? (I let it do its own thing) Will it be unblocked if I click on 'check for updates'? I don't want to click on it just in case my machine is actually not ready for it. I just assumed it's blocked because they told me my machine is "not quite ready yet."Windows 10, version 2004 is available to users with devices running Windows 10, versions 1903 and 1909 who manually search for "Check for Updates" via Windows Update. The recommended service status is half-yearly channel.
If your machine is not ready you can click check for updates. It will not install if not ready. I will say though on my old Dell when I clicked "Check" it checked, found and started the install. No questions asked. I thought it was still supposed to allow you to click Install / Download.
I would ensure you have a recent system Image. Whether your machine is ready or not it is always good to have a route back.
