I was just re-reading the MS doc on block reasons and saw that. Now I'm not sure if it's the iGPU or the Bluetooth or MS just doesn't like me! I looked at all of the Known Issues that had a block and none of the others pertain to me. Just the iGPU and the Bluetooth.
Their choice of words needs to be amended.
We’re offering this update to compatible devices, but your device isn’t quite ready for it.
Should read:
We’re offering this update to compatible devices, but we are not quite ready for you. Sorry.
As of now my PC is running fine on 2004. I managed to get the update over the weekend but not without an issue.
At first I tried the upgrade but after 85% installed the update stopped & restored back to v1909. Some have suggested to shut down 3rd party antivirus software so I thought I'd tried that. But, first I took a precaution. I copied all important Document data including software info (product key, etc) to a USB drive, then disconnected my two storage drives, F: & G:. After re-starting to the desktop, with the antivirus off, I began the update. After 30 minutes or so the update was ready to restart & install.
Once again the update got to 85% & shut down into restoring back to v1909. But, this time the PC wouldn't boot at all! It was caught into an endless loop of restarting. !@#$%^&!
My BIOS is UEFI so I though that would be the first place to check. In BOOT order, only the Blu-ray drive was listed. C: was present but somehow wasn't a boot option. I wound up accepting I'd need to do a clean install so I made a Media Creation Tool on my wife's PC & tried to repair/install. It wouldn't repair. The install got to the point of selecting the install drive but I got an error stating Windows could not install on an MBR hard drive; GPT was needed. I have no idea how this changed as it was a new SSD hard drive when Windows 10 was first installed. I didn't know how to fix that but a video on YouTube explained how to covert it to GPT but had to clear all data on the drive.
During the install pressing Shift+F10 will get you into CMD & I followed the instructions. After that the install was a breeze. Only the driver for the WiFi card was missing. I had to plug a LAN line in & found that driver easy enough. Took half a day to re-install all my software but $%^ happens.
If you did a clean install, you didn't need to go through all the rigamoro of CMD prompting, you could have just chose UEFI install and wiped the drive. Done.
Anyway, I got the same thing on my last attempt to install using the Media Creation Tool. There was no Windows Update offer, so I first tried the Download assistant, USB flash drive created by MCT, and lastly MCT itself. All three attempts failed with the last resulting in an infinite boot loop.
I too plan on doing a clean install of the update when I get the time, but being that was the backup system, I'm in no hurry.
As for my main rig and laptop, I'm going to wait and see what Microsoft does before attempting to install on those.
