You were right sygnus about the behavior. The message is back and says it's available, but I'm not going to touch it for at least a month.

Just updated the Zbook 15v G5. It took just over an hour from start to finish, only 10mins of that was configuring the updates after I performed the first restart. Not too bad.

I've since installed 4 HP updates specifically for machines running 2004. Also got a few MS Store updates and a couple when I re-ran WU after 2004 had installed. Oh, and I checked that system restore was still on (it was), and disabled optimise drives.

It's running beautifully so far. Also no problems with Ransomware enabled on the latest stable release for MBAM. (I disabled all 4 realtime shields prior to updating).

Glad you got a good upgrade.

If you have some time to experiment, as a test, with MBAM Ransomware enabled, put it to sleep for at least 1/2 hour, preferably a bit more, say 40 minutes. Wake it up and see if you get any app hangs or freezing. The length of time seems to be important.

That was my only issue, the freezing with Ransomware enabled.

(Only issue outside the Optimize/Defrag Alzheimer's issue)

Cheers, f14tomcat. I was pleasantly surprised. :) Yep I'll give that a go later. I can tell you that on my Gigabyte P37x-V5, which has been running 2004 for several weeks now, I haven't seen that issue with MBAM. To be honest I never actually put my computers to sleep - I either lock them or do a shut down (with fast start enabled - so never a *real* shutdown). If my computer goes into sleep mode it's invariably through inactivity if I've left it idol for 4hrs (as per my power settings).

My Gigabyte laptop has fallen asleep a few times through inactivity, but it's woken immediately I press a key or touch the mouse, and been perfectly responsive as normal. On at least one of those occasions the machine was asleep for about 6hrs, other times has been 30mins to 3hrs or so.

    Thanks

A day after taking plunge nothing seems to have changed from 1909 to 2004 performance wise. This after a few gaming sessions and some photo editing using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. No music/sound issues either.

Like everyone else though, I do have the Windows can't remember the last time it optimized drives. That's a minor issue though (in keeping things simple) and doesn't affect performance.

Anyway if you want to wait that's perfectly fine. I'm a tinkerer so I tinker

No problems yet , It's been up about 7 hours now. Last time (after 3 hours) it was the drivers for my
video card, Geforce GT 710. Some have reported problems with Malwarebytes, but
    none here.

Interesting. I forced an update mid June of my Elitebook laptop and I thought it was fine but recently saw it was crashing while in sleep mode. I'd pick it up and found it was running hot and needed repowering.

I put the 1909 image back and it immediately said 2004 was ready so I let it update.

So now will wait to see if it is now stable.

This has no data so no worries there. Will report back!

    Hi there
agreed -- 100% no point using anything else on Home type computers -- WD is now based on the Robust (and FBI / CIA certified) security system running in Ms's commercial Cloud server AZURE -- and now things like checks for spyware / pups etc is also automatically enabled.

Ransomware isn't at all a problem any more -- even if you were unfortunate enough to get a notification --just switch off immediately (power off from MAINS / Power button - not via shutdown) disconnect from internet and stand alnonne restore a clean backup --job done .

    Cheers

I upgraded yesterday with no issues, I don't why everyone was complaining, that made me wait. In fact Windows 2004 fixes lots of problem for me, esp this huge issue Intel Management Engine Causes High CPU usage and prevents my laptop from sleeping / waking up - Intel Community

I have noticed only one issue, not sure if it is the 2004 or not, but most likely it is.

I have an external WD My Book hard driver 20TB, usually the write and read speed between 200-300MB but now the read speed is still fast, but the write speed is only 5 to 10 MB which is super slow, my windows XP used to write faster (40MB as I recall).

I have other ext hard drive, before the write speed was around 100MB; and it is still at same speed, only MY book has the problem, gonna contact WD and see what it is.

Still haven't notice any improvement regarding the HAGS, but I haven't had the time to make observations, and it is in testing, it still needs some time for new drivers and new updates.
