    I hope you guys remember, that current Fast Ring builds are already far beyond version 2004? Downgrading Windows is not possible.

    In a few days, when version 2004 will be released, it will be absolutely not possible to switch to version 2004 and quit Fast Ring without a clean install.

    Most probably, if you select Stop getting Insider builds now, you'll switch back to official releases when version 21H1 will be released, in about a year from now.

    Yes. I am aware of all of this. I was only offering the current option as it appears in Fast Ring.

    I do know that as of now anyone on the Fast Ring can't downgrade to 2004 without doing a clean install. My thought is that by MS switching the Fast Ring to 21H1 we will be able to have the choice of staying in the Fast Ring or dropping out without the need to do a clean install.

    Yes, you select to leave the Fast Ring now, but without clean install, it will not take effect until version 21H1 is released.

    Hi folks

    @Winuser

    just backup your systems regularly --then "downgrading again" is never a problem.

    One can also "leave" the fast / slow rings by simply restoring any standard version of Windows --i.e not a "ring" version.

    UUPDUMP can install builds of your choice (going back a LONG WAY as well as having the latest one's from slow and fast rings) without having to join the insider program too.

    Cheers

    It isn't always that easy. Even with my backups if I wanted to downgrade to 2004 it would involve a lot of work to bring my computer up to date. If I wanted to go back a couple of builds I could do it with just a minimum amount of effort. I don't plan on dropping out of the Fast Ring but if I ever do I would want it to be as easy as possible.

    Thanks for the reply, but I didn't ask anything about anything you posted. Maybe wrong quote? Should be Winuser? Cheers.
