Microsoft FINALLY confirms issues with v.2004 Optimize drives

    https://www.windowslatest.com/2020/0...reporting-bug/

The company was made aware of issues with drive optimization tool during the beta testing of a future Windows 10 update. This issue reportedly slipped through the production build and Microsoft is now planning to fix it in the next optional update.

In a statement to Windows Latest, Microsoft confirmed that May 2020 Update has caused issues with the built-in Drive Optimizer tool.

At the moment, it appears that the fix could be included in next week’s optional update, also known as “C” preview release. This month’s optional update is expected to arrive next week.

Internally, the optional updates are known as the ‘C’ release (C for the third week of the month), while Patch Tuesday updates are known as the B release because they arrive in the second week of the month.

The ‘C’ optional update for Windows 10 includes the non-security fixes that will be included in the following B release. If you skip the optional update, which is expected to arrive on Tuesday, you can still get the fixed drive optimization tool with September Patch Tuesday update.

Wow. We'll have to find something else to complain about.

By the time they fix it, there will be a lot to gripe about.

Just updated my two laptops and a friends two laptops to Win 10 2004 (finally got the okay w/ Win update) along with the after update and so far so good. I know it's been around for a bit but I'm really surprised with the new Edge Browser. I like what they did.. how they have the bookmarks/favorites available from the main toolbar and making it so easy/instinctive (and modern) to organize them. Browsers pretty quick too. Think for now it will be my backup to FF.

3 months I've waited for this Update on my Main System, every other computer in the house including a 12yr old Asus Atom based Netbook has had it for 6-8 weeks at least ...guess what the Issue was ?

This morning I ejected a 64GB SD Card , I use for secondary backups of my Work Documents from my Monitor's Card Reader without thinking anything of it ( to do a transfer to my Surface 3 ) and as usual on the weekend, I did a Win. Updates Manual Check, thinking it would fail again and low and behold, it finally offered me 2004 and is busy installing it as I type ......

Could Microsoft not have mentioned the cause for 2004 not being offered in an Error Message or something on one of the many previous manual update check attempts ....wow....unbelieveable ...

    Lesson learned I guess ....

It just "slipped through" despite multible reports.
