The latest update downloaded and installed (after about 40 minutes) earlier today. The initial result was my display screen was totally black. I could move the cursor, but not see anything on the desktop. Eventually, I managed to get into display settings and obtain a visible screen.

Then I was told various applications were incompatible with the current OS version and had been disabled. I re-installed them and they worked.

Next, my own PC did not show up in File Explorer's Network and I had to re-install the SMB1 protocol (Client & Server options) before it would.

I still couldn't see other machines connected to the LAN because my network credentials had been lost.

Ownership of folders had been reset to default values and "Take Ownership" removed from the Explorer context menu. It worked after re-installation of the .reg file.

As a final insult, the system restore point immediately prior to the "Upgrade" had disappeared - so no easy way back.

I've now spent about 5 hours trying to get back to a workable system and I can't say I'm particularly happy.

None of these problems appear in the "Known Issues" table.

" is there an option "...........seems you forgotten making OS-backup before (!) the upgrade .
If you did so , you rolled back in a few minutes ( Macrium !).........

These two are normal behaviors when installing a new version of Windows.

Restore points created for the previous version would be useless.

Try going to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.

In the Go back to the previous version of Windows 10 section, click Get started.

You have 10 days after upgrading to use that function.

To be clear, Ownership and System Restore were not already mentioned.

    But yeah, it happens sometimes.

You might want to revise what you quoted.

I'm getting the dreaded "we couldn't update system reserve partition" error when attempting to update from windows 10 1909 to 2004 on one of my laptops. I tried using software to resize the SRP but haven't had any luck doing so.

I don't want to do a clean install on this machine because it will take forever to reinstall all the software that is currently on it. Has anyone had this issue and if so how did you resolve it?
