For my Acer laptop with AMD Ryzen CPU & AMD Radeon GPU...

I went to the website where you download the Media Creation Tool on May 27. I selected "Update now"
I left my laptop alone and a few hours later checked on it. It had downloaded and installed Windows 10 version 2004.

    Windows 10 May 2020 Update

The Update Assistant can help you update to the latest version of Windows 10. To get started, click Update now.

    Update now
It was trying times the first day or two. Windows Explorer was constantly locking up. Firefox was locking up. I had to reboot when this happened. Gradually things got better. Nothing has locked up so far today May 29.

What I don't understand is why thing were so messed up for a couple days and then suddenly started working normally again. Does anyone understand this behavior?

I have a couple desktops that I haven't updated to 2004 yet. I may hold off a while before I update them.

Did you experience any wake from sleep problems on your AMD-based PC(s)?

As the update was not offered to you, MisterEd, in updates MS did not feel it would work on properly on your device. You were fortunate as things cleared.

Did you check to see if you got drivers updates in the past couple of days?

Have you checked your disks for errors? Are they keeping cool under load? Lots of disk activity and re-indexing to be done with and after a feature update.

I would leave your other devices until they are offered the update in Updates, that or have a Image with proven boot media you can restore from.

I occasionally had that problem with 1909 I am not sure if anything has changed with 2004.

With the laptop on battery I just let it go to sleep with 2004. A few minute later I tried wake it up. I again had a black screen.

I plugged it in and tried to wake it again. I don't know what happened but the laptop then rebooted. I then got the message that it needed to repair the drive. When it was done it restarted again and went to Windows.

I don't know why this happened. My drive is a 1TB M.2 SATA SSD. It never needed to be repaired before.

My desktop with an AMD Ryzen CPU still has version 1909. I normally leave it on all the time and let it go to sleep after the timeout. One or two times a month it will wake with a black screen. I then have to reboot it.

MisterEd- Thank you for your reply. I am delaying my upgrade to 2004 until I get an indication that MS has fixed the Sleep Problem. I am currently running on 1909, w/o any sleep/awake problems. Best of luck and stay well!

This is a typical MS bug ridden beta release feature update. I'm not touching it for at least 2 month or later until the initial bugs are solved. I do admire those willing to rush to install it and be beta testers.

I have a laptop with an intel graphics card. I cannot activate the battery saver in the notification bar but in the options I can activate it and then it is activated in the notifications. It's a test, I never use the battery. I installed the 2004 version on Thursday and I have no problems. I monitor the task scheduler to see if the deframent / trim works automatically.
