After that I had subsequent reboot failures of the same nature in aksdf.sys and hardlock.sys - all apparently components of the same HASP package. Fortunately, disabling these three services (through Start = 4 in the registry) proved to be sufficient to successfully install 2004 update.

P.S. I wonder if anyone knows how to uninstall these HASP services entirely from the machine.
seems to belong to Aladdin HASP software

I just tried to force-install the 2004 update by running the Update Assistant.

The update process started normally but failed (and reverted) somewhere at final stages, most likely - after the final reboot. The initial blue-screen error was PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA for aksfridge.sys module. This module is a part of HASP software licensing service. I don't know what installed it on my machine and I see no way to uninstall it at the moment. I had to edit the registry at HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\aksfridge and set Start = 4.

After that I had subsequent reboot failures of the same nature in aksdf.sys and hardlock.sys - all apparently components of the same HASP package. Fortunately, disabling these three services (through Start = 4 in the registry) proved to be sufficient to successfully install 2004 update.

I had the same issue as you: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA for aksfridge.sys module
I did some digging and found in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files" a folder named Aladdin something
for some reason this service is running a local web page, if you go to http://localhost:1947 you can see it in action
then I found out how to uninstall it: YouTube
that youtube video is correct except the url for the tool you need to uninstall HASP has changed to: Sentinel Downloads
you need to download "Sentinel HASP LDK - Command Line Run-time Installer" and then follow the youtube video (just extract the download, open cmd in that folder, then run the .exe in cmd with the command -purge after it)

    hope that helps.

Mine is 8kb right now. Cannot be accessed while in use.

By the way, maybe it's too early to cast a positive verdict, but right now I am not that impressed with this 19041.264 release.

Sorry, 8KB. Can be opened with Notepad.

You can remove it with a brute-forcing removal app like Unlocker. I recommend LockHunter. LockHunter is a free 64/32 bit tool to delete files blocked by any processes

No point in doing that because I think it will come back after restarting.

Or just make it a HIDDEN file so it can no longer bother you :)

It doesn't bother me, just didn't know what it was until I read contents.
Could anybody check if Snip&Sketch works properly and which version is ? Specifically marker doesn't work. just starts a line and stops with busy circle and than quits.
