I can confirm this. I thought it was 28 days though.
Maybe, the actual wording from Microsoft on this is "...retrim. This is done once per month" according to Try3's reference here:

    Try3 said:
Even if you have it set for weekly, Trim only happens monthly.
This is normal. See defrag - Microsoft Docs under the sub-heading 'Scheduled task'

When the maintenance task launches the defrag task, the date in the optimize drives window is not updated. My optimize drives window says "26 days since last re-optimization" while maintenance ran the defrag task twice in those 26 days, last time on 09/28/2020.

I need to monitor the defrag task to see if it launches multiple times in a month and if the optimize drives window date is refreshed. Prior to KB for optimizing drives window display bug fix, the trim command would run multiple times in a month with a weekly schedule.

I have 3 SSDs and automatic optimization is off. Just looked at them and on 2 of them are marked "Need optimization (28 days)"

What version of Windows according to "winver" command? Please fill out "My Computer" details in your profile.

Defrag task should run weekly by default (and does so on my PC) and the dates have been updating on my PCs "Optimize Drives" windows since M$ fixed the issue weeks back.

Windows 2004 - 19041.546.It's good that it works for you and it should work for me too. But if for the moment that does not work it is perhaps because it is the maintenance which launched several times the task defrag.

As I said, I will monitor the defrag task in the task scheduler, and tomorrow I will launch the defrag task from the task scheduler to see if the date is updated.

Well no way to know what should happen if we didn't know your version you just told us. So yes, it should work for you now.

I would open the "Optimize Drives" windows and position/resize the windows so you can see it when you start the Task Scheduler Defrag task so you can see what's happening in real time. You should see the SSD and/or HDD both get trim'd and get defrag'd before your eyes.

I ran the defrag task (2 times) from the task scheduler with the optimize drives window and on both attempts it only optimized the hdd 1 time (only 1 pass).

So I looked at the event viewer and since 09/07/2020 I haven't had any re-optimization on the ssd c :, the last re-optimization is on 09/06/2020. I installed the KB4571744 on 09/06/2020, for this date I have a re-optimization of the ssd c:, but I do not know if it was done before or after the installation of the KB4571744 or if I have it done manually in optimize drives.

Today I made an optimization of the ssd c: from the window optimize drives, it works and I have a reoptimization entry in the event viewer.

In this situation I can only for two months monitor the defrag task, optimize drives and the event viewer.
I will come back here to give news as soon as I have a reoptimization of the ssd. It may interest people who have the same problem.

Monday 05/10/2020 I had a re-optimization of the ssd, and it is the defrag task which did it, it is not the maintenance task.
Sunday I had manually re-optimized the ssd and I launched the defrag task (2 times), maybe that's what unlocked the defrag task and the re-optimization.

As you can see my defrag isn't doing anything to trim my drives even though it's set to monthly.

@HRPuffnstuff, What version from "winver" ?

    - - - Updated - - -

Frequency says weekly on my PC - I believe that what it should be set to and will still only trim/defrag SSD monthly.

That frequency is how often the Task Scheduler Defrag task runs - it knows to do SSDs monthly and HDDs weekly.

I've tried weekly and monthly since moving beyond 2004 and neither seems to do anything. At least this one acknowledges how many days have passed since the last time trim ran which I manually performed.
