What is your plan if your external drive goes bad? It happens more often than you might think.

If you have data on aninternal drive and an external drive that at least doubles your chance of your data surviving.
It's better than double because they would both have to fail at the same time.

Its the price we have to pay for safety ; making backups on regular base ..........and saving them to internal/external drive(s)
Cost me a lot of precious time , never lost any data and rolling back my sytem is just a matter of a few minutes..............

Is the topic as title or about Back Up Plans, I ask as I keep getting notifications and ideally it is for the former as like many want a few fixes for 20904 not the latter.
Topic is unchanged, we just tend to wander now and again. We'll get back on course soon, promise.

Some of us are in kind of holding pattern right now until someone fixes whatever is causing the problems with 2004. Yes sometimes we get off topic I do not object as long as it does not go on too long.

    Back on topic...
After I went back to 1909 from 2004 the notification in Windows update that there was an update to 2004 available reappeared. I just checked. That notification is now gone.

On my Pro system, I got the message that my PC was ready - click here to install - May 28.
I didn't want to install so I paused updates. Later I wanted to get normal updates, un-paused, and 2004 started downloading.
Whole story: On Pausing Updates - and v2004 update
I killed the install with a hard shutdown and afterward it showed under update history as a failed install (True and understood).
After I un-paused updates - after doing the registry edit to set a metered connection on Ethernet - I got nothing - no message about 2004.
A couple of days ago I got the new "2004 is coming we'll let you know when it is ready" message.

I believe that because the update "failed" the first time my PC is marked as not ready even though at one time it was deemed ready.
Lots going on in the communication between my PC and MS!

I have ~ 33 Gb on my C:\ Drive and it takes less than 3 minutes to image to a Samsung 256Gb fit bit USB 3.0 using Macrium Reflect Pro.

Chris, that's been happening more and more lately, as in last few days. More and more member are reporting an incident of the disappearing update.

Sure smells like MS is tapping the brake and slowing things down in the rollout.
