The new trend:
HP Sure Start, Dell SafeBIOS.... cool technologies at UEFI level, definitely protecting from attacks.
But.....I wouldn't want to see what will happen, if an attack occurs.

Great stuff
But aren't we with all this extra security in danger of Throwing the Baby out with the Bathwater.
For Home users - this type of almost CIA / NSA level of security will probably cause more problems than it solves.
Security is fine until you just can't do your (legitimate) work because of this type of stuff -- woe betide any home user if they need to fix this type of stuff.
The most secure way of preventing hacks (apart from not using the internet at all) is to ensure that only legitimate requests go to your computer -- and that's fairly simple these days to do via your ROUTER's firewall -- most people overlook the quite sophisticated rules you can use in modern routers --even relatively cheap domestic ones. This also can include those cable boxes supplied via ISP's with built in routers -- for myself I always go for a separate sourced router even if on 100% fibre (10 Gb/s these days)
Apart from that - it's glad to see with all this extra WFH that the sale of high quality laptops is increasing again -- in fact I'm sure when some people start returning to offices again they will moan that the work equipment is far inferior to what they have at home -- that was getting quite a common complaint even before Covid-19.

I purchased a business class HP mini desktop late last year which had something installed on it called "HP Sure Sense" which uses "AI" to detect malware. Well when it came up and said that Onedrive was malware, I said I don't think so and uninstalled it.

Sure Sense is a different thing than Sure Start.
Since you got such a new PC, everytime you boot you should be getting the "Protected by hp Sure Start" logo, which is hp's UEFI protection.
FWIW, I always clean install all my hp laptops, to get rid of bloatware of such kind (Sure Sense etc).

I do field testing for Dell. I just finished testing a new XPS laptop with a 10th gen I7 and an SSD. Cold boot to the Windows log in screen in Win 10 is a ridiculous 43 seconds. Maybe "protection" built into this too? My Dell Inspiron 15 5577 gaming laptop with an 8th gen i5 takes less than half that amount of time for a cold boot. Same way with my Z170 ASUS ROG motherboard with an i7 6700K and SSD.
