Agreed, most, if not all, is speculation. It will be a wait and see.

How do you know that for sure? Anything can happen. Windows 8 happened. Win XP was killed and nobody was ready.Tepid, post: 28422, member: 222 said:
I am not saying I want a cloud based OS. We are just discussing "what if?".
I don't want to rain on anybodies picnic; but if Microsoft feel that a cloud operating system could stop the hundreds of millions of counterfeit Windows 9 they just might try using a cloud base system.
Ever time you would log into a cloud operating system or Office ect. they could check and see if you are legal.
I will say it again. Counterfeits cost a company money and the people who buy those products money.
Some interesting reading.

The thing I find interesting about topics like this one is the reaction of some that if MS does this I going to jump to Linux. I figure (just an opinion) that if all the individuals out there who have made this statement then 1) why haven't they and 2) why isn't Linux's OS base jumped to say somewhere around at least 50% of all desktop systems in the world. . .![]()
You are kind of jumping the gun, aren't you Lee? I doubt you will see more desktop users move to Linux or other OS's, until MS actually moves to a cloud OS and support for their current Windows OS runs out. Until then, whats the rush? I for one don't want to make the move, but I will if MS doesn't give me a choice.
Why? Is the Cloud 9 out yet? Why would people move to Linux now?Lee, post: 29305, member: 135 said:
China is brewing something up, and maybe if this Linux based Windows XP is released, Microsoft will start losing business:

......
Hahaha,,, right,, Like I am going to use any OS that is dev'ed and released from Communist (will have zero issues with spying on anyone) China.
Holy cow, are you freaking insane?
If this is not enough to make you run,,, then I don't know what is...
"The local government has apparently found a solution to move users off Windows XP by developing its own Linux-based alternative...."
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! It would same that maybe I just wasn't clear in my post. I basically stated that if all the people who have stated that if MS didn't do what they wanted then MS was in trouble because "THEY" would move to Linux, and I stated if this was so then why wasn't Linux user base at least at 50%. . .![]()
Wow! how paranoid can you get? You are over reacting. It doesn't take chinese programmers to worry about spying or hacking. Microsoft has been having security issues recently. Any country can spy on anyone anytime they want to. And why would you worry about China spying on you? Who are you? :)Tepid, post: 29356, member: 222 said:
Anyways, just something to talk about. Nothing really to argue about.
If the Cloud OS happens, one big issue would probably like the one that happened recently with Adobe's "Creative Cloud" when it went offline. There was a big loss in productivity among designers. Imagine that happening to the backbone of anyone's business....

Microsoft stopped caring / noticing / being bothered about what society is ready for or wants a long time ago.Tepid, post: 28422, member: 222 said:
