I found that my multi boot options got changed. I had it setup to list Windows 10, Macrium Reflect System Recovery, Windows Safe Mode and Windows Safe Mode W/Networking. The Safe Mode options were removed and replaced with Windows Rollback. The countdown was also changed from 10 to 0.

re-installed CLEAN as a non VM for more testing.

Still cannot get Network browsing to work via file explorer properly to see NON Windows devices e.g NAS etc

Done all the usual stuff SMB etc. Still no good.

re-booting standard release 18363.836 absolutely no problem with file explorer finding and browsing non Windows devices e. g. linux NAS systems.

I can put up with defects etc on these "Fast release" builds as they are of course testing builds - but really Ms whatever else an OS contains or doesn't contain these days surely even for the smallest home setup any sort of Networking should be 100% working -- IMO apart from boot up Networking should be the ist thing testers do -- or doesn't Ms have any testers any more -- do they just compile the thing, see if there are no compplile errors and then chuck it straight out of the door.

It's definitely a file explorer problem as Filezilla can browse non Windows equipment via sftp --you need the IP address though. Supplying an IP address is not always possible and in any case some of my users wouldn't have a clue on how to attach a network drive via IP -- especially as it wouldn't be the same one on each visit.

Using File Explorer I'm not having an issue with the latest IP, RTM or Linux Mint 19.x [Wired connections] accessing the Mapped Public folders on my 2x WD 2TB NAS drives connected by Ethernet cable to my Router. Just checked my 'other' IP machine that uses a Wireless connection and no issue with it either. But this is just a simple home network, 4-port Router, 8-port Switch, 2 NAS drives, 2 Printers and 4 Desktops [different OSes], all Wired plus the 1 Wireless IP machine and various times have Wireless Notebooks connecting. I chose the NAS drives for storage rather than share and map drives in computers.

just goes to show that Networking on Windows has advanced little beyond "Gandalf the Wizard" stage.

My NAS systems are running SAMBA for sharing (Version 4.10.X so no problem with SAMBA recent security updates) and the NAS systems can see the W10 Client systems without any problems either.

The Host OS on these is Arch Linux kernel 5.6.13 with SAMBA held at 4.10.X level. I have 2X of these servers with identical OS levels and packages.

I can't think of any reason why this build doesn't map the devices for me but the standard 1909 363 build works perfectly -- both hosted on the same computer and identical SSD's -- same make, capacity etc etc.

Great if yours is working - but it's still NO GO for me.

Just to ensure that I did the tests properly -- I even wiped the two SSD's and restored -- swapping the destination drives so that OS1 was on the one I had OS2 on.

Nobody can accuse me of not being fairly rigorous in my tests -- even at work people say --"Give it to him --he'll always be able to break something that others run without a problem " !!!!
