Before I did the update I saw updates available
Cumulative update for .net and insider preview 19628.... update both successful. When I when into update history the cumulative update was their and all successful.. I pressed check for updates and cumulative update for .net Came back installed again successful. Weird but now it’s all done... maybe because I installed the insider preview at the same time as the .net update
After 5 hours, it finally installed. Appeared to hang @ 6% for over an hour. Stopped the download, emptied Software Distribution Download folder, cleaned up System files and restarted again. Hung @ 6% again but only for 15 minutes. Last time I checked it, was installing @ 88%, moments later downloading @ 7% and about 1 hour later finished.
Why can't the installer track the length of time it takes to do the install or update, from start to finish, maybe even log a few way-points in between? It would be such a simple thing to do and it would satisfy the curiosity of many people and actually be a good benchmark to check between build installs on the same machine.

I've given that some thought over the various versions of Windows and concluded there's too many variables to be of meaning to all the folks using them such as Internet speed, computer processing speed, etc., and rather than get users unhappy because George doesn't get the same speeds as Frank who doesn't get the same times as Snicklefritz the page just says "This will take awhile".
