    Thanks.

I didn't pose my question correctly, though. My intent was not to discontinue receiving notifications from MS (although that'd be part of it), but rather to render my Win10 installation the same as if I had updated from an older Win10 version (say, 1909).

I did that sort of thing quite some time ago, but my memory of it is poor. It may have involved an option that isn't present now, as far as I can see.

So i guess i'll just have to wait and see once 2004 is out if WU will pop-up 2004 or still 1909.
ah where are you, Mikey89? v2004 is out now though only a few people actually got it recently thru WU - I'm not one of them
though I tried to check thru WU on my dad's Toshiba laptop on the evening of 5/27 and 2004 has not shown up yet - so it's still running 1909. so it's currently being issued thru WU only to a few people (and MS isn't ready to push 2004 to most other people)

Beginning today, the May 2020 Update is available for customers who would like to install this latest release. If you are ready to install the update, open your Windows Update settings (Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update) and select Check for updates. Once the update appears, you can select Download and install. (Note: You may not see Download and install on your device as we are slowly throttling up this availability over the coming weeks, or your device might have a compatibility issue for which a safeguard hold is in place until we are confident that you will have a good update experience.) Once the download is complete and the update is ready to install, we’ll notify you so that you can pick the right time to finish the installation and reboot your device, ensuring the update does not disrupt your activities. This new “Download and install” capability is available for devices running Windows 10, version 1903 or version 1909.

I don't pretend to understand this, but it appears to work.

I'll stay on the stable build until the next release gets close to final.

Erpster yes i was just to ask about this.

How come 2004 isn't showing in WU ? It only says 1909 is ready to download and install but i think i'll stick with 1903.

I don't want to download and install 2004 just yet but shouldn't it be showing that's it's available in WU ?

The update to 1909 is very minor, it installs just like a cumulative update (no windows.old, can be uninstalled the same way as a CU). There's no compelling reason not to take that small step....

Not all machines are being offered 2004 in WU yet. MS seem to be staggering the roll out, just as they have done with all previous feature updates. Also, as for any new release there are always known blocking issues for particular hardware/software. A PC with a blocking issue won't be offered 2004 until MS have resolved the issue.

Of my half dozen machines, only two were offered the update. Those I have updated successfully, the others I will wait until it is offered in WU.

Hey Bree, yeah i replied in the other thread.

So far 1903 is really good for me, i think i prefer staying with it. Also didn't 1909 have some windows explorer issues ? Don't know if those were ever solved.

I'm guessing 2004 will be available through WU by the end of 2020 right ?
