    What defrag issues?
run the dfrgui.exe file and see if the Defrag app works correctly with build 19041.264

the 2004 release will be available thru WU near the end of May (after Memorial Day weekend)
and yes you can upgrade directly from 1903 to 2004 - at least you can do that using the ISO method (meaning run setup directly from a 2004 ISO when that gets released around the end of May)
But can't i upgrade directly from Windows Update ?

I mean won't Windows just upgrade by itself ??

Sorry but i'm not really sure since 1903 is my first version and i never upgraded to 1909.

Edit : so will it be possible to install 2004 through WU ? Also will it install automatically by itself ?

Sorry for asking but i never installed a version update because i was just on 1903 when i upgraded from 7 to 10, it just updated to 1903 and i never installed 1909 since it was optional.

Just tried the Defrag on my SSDs. Now it shows the previous last optimised date/time rather than 'never run' and currently shows the status as 'OK. 0 days since last retrim'. I closed the windows and re-opened it, looks like it's fixed

you mean upgrading directly from 1903 to 2004 from WU?, Mikey89.
sorry no. at least not right after 2004 gets released.
maybe when 1903 is close to being out of support (near the end of 2020), upgrading from 1903 to 2004 from WU could happen then. but when 2004 first gets released, nope - not yet.

also will your computer automatically upgrade to 2004 by itself? depends on who manufactured your PC and you leave your internet connection active for several days without shutting or powering it off

    So i HAVE TO install 1909 anyway ?? And then 2004 ?

Also does installing newer version like from 1903 to 1909, does WU do that automatically ? I mean just install automatically ?

How does it work exactly, i never tried to.

not really. you don't really have to install 1909 and then update to 2004. maybe it's better to wait for a while (like a few months) until you get a more "bug fixed" version of 2004. early releases of 2004 still have issues/problems to be worked out

upgrading from 1903 to 1909 is like installing a regular CU
    basically 1909 is 1903 SP1 = 1909 is not a big feature update like 1903 or 2004
if you are still not clear on that, try asking Brink or anybody else

    Erpster4 thanks for the info.

Just one more thing, i don't have to reinstall GPU or CPU drivers after 1909 or 2004 is finished right ? I mean everything is like the way it was before ?

I mean let's say i install 1909 and after that i go ahead with 2004. Will upgrading 1909 from 2004 be as simple and automatic like a CU update is ? Or like it was from 1903 to 1909 ?

Edit Erpster4 the only thing i'm not clear about is the installation process itself.

I mean is upgrading from 1903 to 1909 and from 1909 to 2004 just as simple and automatic like a CU update ? That's what i'd like to know.

read my previous & edited/revised post-

WAIT a few months before upgrading to 2004 - you may get a more newer "bug fixed" version of it than the one that is currently being offered since WU usually offers updated/revised 2004 versions from time to time. don't upgrade to 2004 right away

no you don't have to reinstall GPU/graphics drivers after upgrading to either 1909 or 2004

I just edited my last post.

I just wanted to know about the installation process. I don't want to upgrade right away

But i only wanted to know if upgrading from 1903 to 1909 OR upgrading from 1909 to 2004 is just as simple and automatic like a CU update ?
