I just found out that I cannot access my router when WARP is enabled. Doh!

Quid for quo - as they say.

I am rather boring home user so do not really care if I get 50 or 70 Mb/s - as long as I do not feel the difference (and I currently don't). But yes, speeds are a tad lower than what I would get straight from ISP without this wizardry.

My SamKnows box is connected as an orphan, not as a pass-through device as expected (their router is rather dated - does not have GBe ports - and because SamKnows refused to upgrade it for me, I decided to leave it connected that way) and continues to report normal speeds.
Avg of 940Mb/s dropping down to bouncing between 38-250Mb/s is a bit much esp when grabbing a 50GB file (this was at 2am).

I reckon that maybe you need to use your ISP's DNS unencrypted with SamKnows. That's a privacy issue for me.

My commiserations. Alas! As I wrote:

Not sure about it, I changed DNS configuration in the ISP router to Cloudflare servers and quite some time ago either. And that worked and does work fine.

So I think it's down to some misconfiguration somewhere, either router software (probably it's now dated, 2 years down the line) or within Cloudflare client.

I suppose that you could disable warp when accessing your router. Personally I've disabled Warp for everyday use.

The thing is that as far as I know (and I could be wrong) - changing DNS at router level makes no difference as DNS settings in windows over-ride it.

Yeah, correct. To tell you the truth, how often do you fiddle with router's settings... ;-)

    No, that's not correct, methinks.

Look at this (with some key information removed):

Router acts as DNS resolver - and its settings do matter.

This is Windows 8.1 and IPv4 domain - but I gather that this principle also applies in Windows 10 and IPv6.

It's always worked for me regardless of router DNS.

You can instead override the automatic DNS server provided from your router and set a custom DNS server on individual devices, if you like—here’s how do do that on each platform.

True its one click to disabled it to enter Samknows App so no big deal but I got this for browsing speed (as per claims) and I see no difference.
