Updated OK but reset the boot time to "0" so I don't see my dual boot menu. I had to go into System Config and set it to 5 (seconds) and now see the dual boot menu. The previous update did the same thing. Before that the updates didn't change the delay time on the dual boot.

Yes, I noticed that, too. Had to change in msconfig to be able to view multiboot menu.

Ditto...... thought i had done something. Thanks.

If curious, this is how you set the value from an admin command prompt. Any value 0-999. You know what 0 will do....

    bcdedit /timeout 5

Upgrading to a trial of Windows Server 2019

I'm just downloading what appears to be a trial of Windows Server 2019. If that is true I will upgrade (after imaging of course) and seeing how the virtualization software (Hyper-V and VMware concurrently with VMware Workstation 20H1) is working. Also I haven't upgraded my Hyper-V Windows 10 VM for some time. Then I will be testing software from a company (forget its name at the moment) of about 200 people located in Malta.

    cheers,

    mf

Nice install of Windows Server 2019 which I will now be running multibooting with 4 Linux distros and using openSUSE Tumbleweed (secureboot) Grub menu. Only 1 scare - after typing in the Administrator login password the screen went black. After a cold boot to the grub menu, the install resumed normally from 91%/ Wicked stuff $MS. They should give me a free key - in fact, I believe I will contact MS Support about it. Long ago I got a free key to Office and a free copy in an unmarked package from them. Of course, they don't need to mail me that anymore. But the world, including IT has changed. Toi all the virtual friends I have made here over the years, particularly in the US and the UK please hold on to your hats. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

Downloading Windows Server 2019 Insider Buill 19551. I will install it if preserves the GUI and my settings.

A gunslinger has to decide at sometime when to holster his weapon. In my case the decision, as far as Windows Server goes, is whether to GUI or no GUI. Although I knew in my heart (and from experience) that a 2GB ISO from $MS was not going to install a GUI I decided "O, well what the hell!" and crashed into the mountain of the command line. At 4 AM in the morning, I even forgot the command for the Windows Server "GUI" command program. So I've decided to go into openSUSE for the night. I will decide tomorrow whether or not to download the 2019 eval ISO again or just use my backup (booting from a trusty DVD <I hope In the meantime I thought I'd upload what openSUSE Tumbleweed updates in 3 days.

Hey guys, noticed this with the last 2 builds. Windows spotlight doesn’t update itself. In order to change the spotlight background I have to go to settings, personalization, lock screen and change spotlight to picture or slide show and then put it back to spotlight for it to update. Or resetting spotlight each time I want the spotlight to change background. Just a observation!
