For Windows 10 Updates in May 2020

We have been evaluating the public health situation, and we understand this is impacting our customers. In response to these challenges we are prioritizing our focus on security updates. Starting in May 2020, we are pausing all optional non-security releases (C and D updates) for all supported versions of Windows client and server products (Windows 10, version 1909 down through Windows Server 2008 SP2).

There is no change to the monthly security updates (B release – Update Tuesday); these will continue as planned to ensure business continuity and to keep our customers protected and productive.

For more information on the different types of monthly quality updates, see our Windows 10 update servicing cadence primer.

Nothing said about the 20H1 feature release so far.

The “C” and “D” releases occur the third and fourth weeks of the month, respectively. These preview releases contain only non-security updates, and are intended to provide visibility and testing of the planned non-security fixes targeted for the next month’s Update Tuesday release. These updates are then shipped as part of the following month’s “B” or Update Tuesday release.

They shouldn't be waiting until May to do this, it should be immediate.

I agree. Give us all a break. We've all got much bigger things to worry about than MS feeding their whimsical updates down the tube. I see they chucked another one out tonight.

The bigger things being our PC's need to be working and not going through the growing pains of unnecessary updates that may cause end users problems.

Being they are Optional, they should not be an issue for you.
