Nahhh but it looks quite fancy. And I can now access my OneDrive with one click so to speak... But overall: I like it!

Some Insiders liked it, others didn't. The Insider program often seems to test new features like this by rolling it out to some, but not others, a comparative test to see how much it gets used compared to a control group.

Sometimes they have even done the same for non-insiders like me. Of all my machines that were on 1903, just one had the fly-out on the Start menu when you hovered over the Power button, supposedly a new feature only to be found in 1909.

@Bree, @Anak, @Farvatten, @katlani -- Defender definition mystery solved. This could be overkill, but I ran the following...

    1. sfc /scannow
    2. Dism command to restore health
    3. sfc /scannow
    4. restart computer
    5. Brink's .bat file (tutorial) to clear Windows 10 update history
    6. Brink's .bat file (tutorial) to clear Event Viewer logs.
    7. restart computer

Defender definition updates now again showing in Windows Update update history. Thanks again for all responses and suggestions.

EDIT: According to the following thread in Reddit, the Defender definitions not appearing in Windows Update update history dates back to February. Seems if Defender updates through WU, the new definition is listed in WU update history. However, it won't show up there if updated through Defender itself. Not exactly what I had but worth noting. Seems to be a Microsoft issue.

Windows Update History doesn'''t show that I have Latest Defender Definition updates, but Defender says I do. : Windows10

Two machines on 18363.719, no problems--I moved to RP ring after ~5 yrs on fast ring--got tired of the rat race...

Got an R9 3900X coming tomorrow, to replace my R5 3600X (6c/12t)--I am such a sucker! Amazon is selling the 3900X (12c/24t) @ $80 off & 5 monthly payments, same as cash (0% interest!) Definitely a more painless way to buy. --I was going to include a link, but it looks like I was just in time when I ordered because it appears the 3900X was on a 5 months, same as cash basis for awhile--it is now off that deal! Still $418, but it looks like the 5-month no interest deal is off!

....it was some sort of MS Office 365 splash ad. It appeared immediately after starting the computer. This sort of thing bothers me a lot.

...my computer is in Spanish (Microsoft's Spanish is terrible),
I know what you mean and I was going to mention this 'hidden out of normal view' Folder Options [x] box until I noticed you'd found it again, and it's not just Spanish, here it's this equally cryptic 'Show sync provider notifications'

I have this on my Clean Install Hit list of things to turn off, and yet you never know with Microsoft when a setting will get defaulted back. So I went back to check mine, finding it thankfully still off. But thanks for reminding me to keep an eye on it.

Hi Farvatten. This ad covered the whole screen immediately after starting the computer. According to what I read, the sync setting covers ads in File explorer. Hopefully it covers the type of ad I saw and gets rid of it but I am not sure it will.

Regarding how bad Microsoft's Spanish is, read this. Time and time again when I am looking at a setting or something, and I read it, I just cant figured out what it means. So, to make sure what the setting is really about, I very often end up looking up the setting in English via Google, so I can figure out what MS is actually trying to say in my native tongue. Thats how bad it is. Personally, I like MS but their canned translations are terrible.

Microsoft's translations remind of a movie I saw last year. It was a Western, it had a lady who was named Sissi. The movie was dubbed to Spanish, and it translated the lady's name as ....maricon (gay in Spanish). MS canned translation of W10 to Spanish is as bad as the dubbed translation of that movie.

You should see translations to some other languages like Serbian for instance. They even invented some words.

Oh I am sure is the same with other languages. Microsoft should have people that actually speak the language do the translations. The Sissi example from that movie is exactly what MS does with words and languages.
