Yeah, I use MR also. But conversely, I have always had better luck with System Restore than with MR. Granted I have not needed to rely on SR for a long time, but whenever I've used it in the past, it always worked. Several times I've gone to use a backup from MR to reset my system, and was met with an error. So I try to use more than one source to make sure I can do whatever I need done. And since I have more than twelve TB's of disk space, I'm never worried about resources. Better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah, for $70 you can keep that Rapid Delta Restore. My MR normally runs very fast when it works, and that is FREE!!!!! If it was a $20 app, I might be willing to pay that to pick up a few features like RDR. But not for $70. That's ridiculous when the free edition gives me pretty much all features I need. It's not like a daily use app. I only use it once in a blue moon.

One important thing I forgot to mention is that you have to check that the task you created is still enabled and working after each major update specially Patch Tuesday and Feature Updates like the upcoming one for version 2004 aka 20H1. As you know, MS has the inconvenient habit of changing your settings after those updates. If that's the case all you have to do is to review your settings in Task Scheduler and keep your task enabled.

Personally, it had happened to me twice that MS would have changed my settings in the past with regard to Automatic RPs. you don't even have to worry about the Automatic RPs taking too much space. As space becomes scarce, depending on the percentage put on the slider 3 or 5% when setting System Restore, the oldest Automatic RPs will be replaced by the new ones. As of this writing, this is what my Automatic RPs look like:

Language stuff AGAIN broken. How is it that this feature works on one release, breaks on the next one, works again on another release and then breaks again on the latest one -- Haven't the Windows developers ever heard of REGRESSION TESTING.

I know using these builds we can expect to see odd defects --this is presumably the point of testing these builds - but surely Language is one of the easiest things to get correct

All you need to do (any sensible developer could do it without batting an eyelid) is to separate the screens from the application(s) so an application will just call for a specific screen .

In the screen there would be "objects" e.g buttons etc and label elements -- all these label elements would pick up their text from a "data dictionary" in the appropriate language -- this text would be installed at Windows install or update time -- "Seeemples" so no need for it to get broken each Windows update !!!!!

I believe in "technical geekish jargon" the way of doing this type of development was called MVC or Model View Component -- maybe development these days is done in a much more "ad hoc" manner --who knows --years since I was involved with that type of stuff - but we never had problems supplying applications in quite a few different languages for our users and it was a simple job once the base "dictionary" had been created -- even easier today I'd imagine with things like Google Translate and other A.I around to speed up the manual translation processes.

Not sure how to enable Nested Virtualisation on AMD in Windows -- however in the Linux ARCH (and other kernels I suspect) it can be enabled if using KVM / QEMU hypervisor with LIBVIRT service :

I'm on an INTEL machine currently but it does work on AMD too --just replace INTEL with AMD :


sudo modprobe -r kvm_intel
sudo modprobe kvm_intel nested=1


To make persistent : echo "options kvm-intel nested=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/kvm-intel.conf

Check that it's working :

$ systool -m kvm_intel -v | grep nested
nested = "Y"
nested_early_check = "N"
$ cat /sys/module/kvm_intel/parameters/nested
Y

You should then be able to run nested level VM's of "Any flavour". !!
