Not sure why it would matter most people are using linux in vm's so why have defender running x2

Because VM's are a separate container. Just because you have an antivirus on the host does not mean the vm cannot have threats. Your vm should have virus protection on as well.

it's not out yet, public preview just showed it off for a bit.
