Microsoft is expected to launch a brand new Windows version, most likely called Windows 9, sometime next year, but even though the software giant will continue development of new OS builds, the PC market is very unlikely to recover.

That’s what a forecast made by IDC claims, as the research firm says that the PC market will continue its decline in the next years despite efforts made by software and hardware companies.
    The rest of the story.

I'm one of those "dinosaurs" that will continue to use a PC until the day I go "boots up". Hand held devices might be OK for making phone calls and texting, but I want my 23" LCD for daily web surfing and work.

I am one of those too, except I use a 32" LCD. The hand held devices are not for me either.

Well I'm another dinosaur but I like the hand held gadgets, got a Windows 8 Smartphone, an Asus Windows 8.1 Notebook and a Kindle Fire HD.

My 22" monitor is attached to my Windows 7 machine, can't use the television as it's still an old CTR not capable of modern day use.

My gaming PC will always be a desktop. I can't imagine not having at least one desktop PC in the house. I would like to build at least one more gaming system. My laptop is more than powerful enough to do what I do on it so I can't see buying another one unless it dies on me. Buying a tablet would just be an extravagance as I don't really need one.

Really don't see a new PC in the future with having just bought 27" Lovono, an iMac 27" (two very sweet systems. One iPod, along with a Kindle Fire HDX. Think those device should last another five years.

I still have my desktop and will probably always have one. I'm interessed in smart devices, however, they may be fine on-the-go for small tasks but for any serious stuff, I need my desktop PC with mouse and keyboard.

I too don't see the "end of the line" for PC's anytime near as soon as some do. Handhelds have their place I guess, but some/most of us still use real computers.
