Did you check the list of all installed updates once your OS got updated and restarted? This update has only shown up itself there and then.
This update installed itself on one of my NON-UEFI Machines twice!

This "USB installer" was it created by the Windows Media Creation Tool?
    Get it here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10
In any case you probably need to go through an in place upgrade, this will rectify your issue and also re-create the default partitions for specifics such as WinRE. It shall not take very long.
Seem I was bitten by the HP bug as described in this thread. I am not going to try the in-place upgrade just yet, and wait a few days for the dust to settle and see if a fix comes along. Again, thank you for your input and your help!

In attempting to install this update, I get the following error:

Last failed install attempt on ‎2/‎12/‎2020 - 0x800f0922

I've retried several times, tried sfc and dism, still no joy. Any ideas?
I was getting the same error and increasing size of efi area made no diffrence.
What I found to work was turning on Secure Boot in the Bios as I had it turned off and after switching it on the udate installed fine. Then I just turned secure boot again

That was going to be the next thing I tried... it didn't work for me, alas. Guess I'll just wait until the official fix comes out. I sure hope it's soon.

    Yup, it isn't there.

It says it's not meant for my computer while installing from Microsoft Catalog.

Seriously though, try to install it with Secure Boot disabled in UEFI/BIOS. See details here:

just hide the damn KB4524244 update with wushowhide.diagcab, pietcorus2.
I kept it off my Win10 PCs whether they use legacy bios or uefi as I blocked that update from being offered by WU
no real benefit of installing it at this time as I'll wait at least a few weeks before I decide whether to accept that update or not
