Yes, there was also an article in The Independent that wrongly identified KB4532693. The article was written as though The Independent had discussed the issue directly with Microsoft but it might well have been cribbed from somewhere else instead.

I have not, I've not seen any problem with it, so far ... (beside wrong info), and I thought it actually was not wise to uninstall it given the very serius bitlocker problems it claims to resolve... then reading this and other posts I realized it has nothing to do with bitlocker and honestly I don't know what it's supposed to do,should I uninstall it?
Just a side note to all this. If you have done any cleanup, i.e. Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase, it cannot be uninstalled. But, since I had done a cleanup, I did an in-place repair and all is ok now. No trace of KB4524244 anywhere.
I routinely use 'Disk Clean up - clean up system files' immediately after any windows updates. I believe that this is exactly the same as using 'Dism /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup' (but without the /ResetBase switch).
I could still uninstall KB4524244 after that. It's ResetBase that will make all previously installed updates permanent.
