" It's ResetBase that will make all previously installed updates permanent. "...............thats a good one to remember !!
Always used this ResetBase in the DISM-CMD , will not do this in future anymore .
Better is to wait a week and if all is ok ( no buggy updates to remove !) , you can add the ResetBase again to the CMD !

I routinely use 'Disk Clean up - clean up system files' immediately after any windows updates. I believe that this is exactly the same as using 'Dism /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup' (but without the /ResetBase switch).

I could still uninstall KB4524244 after that. It's ResetBase that will make all previously installed updates permanent.
That explains why I can't uninstall that KB.

Yep, I mentioned all that. May want to look at what I did.

To resolve this, users found they could restart Windows a few times or uninstall the update to get their normal profile back.

Yes, for what I read, the update creates and logs in a temp profile and doesn't go back to the user profile.
The articles also claim that it can delete the data. If it's true, I don't know.

How could M$ released such "update"?

The primary TenForums thread on this CU is at KB4532693 CU Win 10 v1903 build 18362.657 & v1909 build 18363.657

Perhaps it would be more useful to post new information there.
    - But not, I think, that particular Google search link because it just returns claims by other people to the effect that other people have said they have had this problem.
    - The waters have become too muddy already with accidental references to KB4532693 instead of KB4524244
    - I have had a look around and I cannot find any reports by users of having lost their data as a result of installing KB4532693

Agree. Only the Google search, nothing here on TF. No need for separate threads on same topic. @Brink

I have control of the updates to be installed. Before I updated I did a google search and found a potential issue installing kb4532693.

Instead of discussing if I'm an alarmist, we should be discussing solutions to help people to get back their computer working normally.

I see no reference to alarmist anywhere.
