Reason for my failure to WU or install using UUPDump is again incompatibility with AMD Radeon Software.

Managed to get around this problem for the last few flights but once again as last year it rears it ugly head again.

Insider flights and this Graphics software (at least on my computer) have trouble keeping up with each other.

Hopefully once again will be able to WU the next flight.

When it became clear that the tool would require again an update, and at the same time UUP Dump got better and really reliable, I asked admins to "retire" the UUP to ISO tutorial. Instead, I was told that it's better to add a note in it, and leave it where it is.

I fully agree with that administrative decision. Quite a many users will Google and Bing about how to make Insider ISO from UUP files, and will find it. The note at beginning, less than a minute's read, tells then that tool is outdated, and gives link to another tutorial which shows how to use UUP Dump.

I think it’s better to leave where it is. As I said in earlier post, I made a bootable current slow build from uup to iso and installed that slow build, but when I tried to made iso from 3 different computers for the current fast build, it wouldn’t and errored me with information I have now forgotten.

Aha! I hadn't looked at UUPtoISO since you did the tutorial on UUPDump. And, of course, I didn't think of . . . at all.

Looks like Admin has us covered.

I guess it's a good thing I bought an Nvidia graphics card for this computer.

Is it a certain Radeon that causes the problem, or all of 'em?

Hmmm, I didn't have a problem with WU; haven't done the ISO from UUPDump lately.

This is interesting Radeon software was installed by default in a brand spanking new install of this build on a dedicated SSD. Here's a screenprintWindows 10 Insider Preview Fast Build 19559.1000 - February 5-radeong.png

This build is excellent. Now I see the wisdom of only having small fixes to begin with. It can only get better. Bring on the new feautres.

    Hi folks
I DID have a minor bit of trouble installing this build on a Real machine with 6 HDD's connected -- unplugged the Linux RAID 0 array with 4 HDD's and it installed fine --replaced the HDD's again with no problem.

I think Windows was trying to install its boot mgr on the RAID 0 -- lucky for me it failed otherwise a lot of re-creating the array.

I noticed too that when I just had 2 SSD's in the system (a 250 GB and a 512 GB one) while windows would install to the 250GB one it always wrote the bootmgr to the 512GB SSD -- not sure if that's to do with the hardware boot as I've attached those SSD's via a pcie 1X card (fast enough on this older machine).

If I removed the 512GB SSD Windows wouldn't install --gave error -- so something really weird -- with both SSD's in Windows installed just fine on the smaller SSD. which is what I wanted --I have my Linux OS system on the larger of the SSD's.

At boot though Windows attached itself as an option on to the Linux GRUB menu on the 512 GB SSD though so definitely something crazy with the boot devices (Machine is UEFI , SSD's both GPT with /efi boot partitions available). Also why it failed to install with just the smaller SSD in the system --who knows --no errors etc on the SSD devices either.

I usually use this machine for Linux but was testing to see what happened if using a REAL machine rather than a VM.

I hope the boot mgr in future behaves properly --If I want to install Windows on Disk "X" I don't want ANY other disk touched.

    Cheers
