Yes! I'm 58 years old and also think that the WINDOWS UPDATEs implementation are out of control. Of course, many things to remove, because for me and MY COMPUTER, are simply garbage. I miss one clean and direct Edition from PC workstations. Thanks for your evaluation over the actual situation of Windows 10. NOTE: I'm also, the same hair than you, man.
My boot time on 7 was about 2 minutes on 10 it is about ~ 45 seconds.
When I got the 8.1 upgrade from 8 on this same machine, the same thing happened. Initially it was slower but straightened out after a time. I also upgraded a laptop from XP to Win 8 and the same thing happened. It is not specific to Win 10.
If you had all those problems, there is something wrong in your system. I have none of those problems with RAM or CPU usage and the great majority do not either. My prime suspect would be that ancient graphics card. Win 10 may not contain a suitable driver for something that old and weak. We have the same CPU but your motherboard is actually better. It has the 970 chipset where mine has the 780. I also do not believe that Win 7 boots in 20 or even 30 seconds. My Win 7 system takes 65 -70. I'm timing it from pushing the power button to the time when everything is loaded and the machine is usable without lag, not to where the desktop first appears.
Believe it or not it boots that fast xD
Again, the video card is old and weak, I know that, but it's nothing wrong with my system if win 7 and w8 work flawlessly..so it's win10 problem
there's already a w10 driver for my graphic card...I don't know why your system takes so much time to boot up...
As I said..I will wait for some upgrades/updates and then I will decide if I reinstall it or not...
They said that it would be lighter and simpler but imo it's just full of useless programs and background things that use too many resources.
Up until the initial problems getting 10 at first as well as one of the two WD Black Edition 1tb Sata 3 drives acting up and super slow at accessing I bumped the good one into the second remote access mini tower to see a second OS drive for a dual boot there as well but split in two for storing an image of the 10 install on the older 500gb I first had split up and then the need to upgrade the 7 Pro install and subsequent restoration of the system image to the second drive. The other now sits in an external enclosure where the 1gb Green Power drive was moved inwards until the S3 finally dies off. Plus the main case just saw another WD Heavy Duty RE type 2tb drive go in which I can easily match up with a second while those are Sata II like the two OS drives.
No more mixing of drive types up which is what caused problems at the start! 3tb less the usual conversion of 1tb equal 920gb and 2tb equal 1.839tb or 1,839gb. After the first upgrade saw the upgrade to repair type install the clean install went on well without the two storage drives involved and is running right about the same speed when compared as the 7 Ultimate install is doing. With both on the same type of drive as well as the 16gb of ram neither should have any problems.
Those times seem a bit slow.
Based on your System Specs I'd expect your PC to be faster than mine (i7 vs Phenom, WD Black vs WD Green).
Do you have a lot of auto-start items?
My W7 install takes ~55 seconds to boot (although yesterday it booted in 43 seconds).
It churns for ~30 seconds loading the Delayed services.
My W10 VM (VMware Player on LM17.2) also takes ~55 seconds to boot.
Guess I won't get too pissed at my boot time in Win 10 then, Has been pissing me off because its between 35 secs and 38 secs.
On Windows 7 it was always around 28 secs. My hard drive is an Intel 240 gig ssd. :)
Two identical Sata II drives here both WD 1tb Black editions and the actual boot times are right about the same due to how the user account welcome screen lingers a bit longer on 10 while 7 seems quicker only because you see the desktop quicker but still able to anything while all the late to come stuff is still loading. 10 is done by then.
