It takes quite a bit more time to wake up and shut down unfortunately , seems when you shut down for update installs the spinning circle just goes on and on until updates start to install lol.
Not for me, I do not use hibernation though, but my machine wakes up in less than 20 seconds.

I like it but it is not faster than 7 from what I can see, especially when you have to wait for your hard drives to wake up when you want to save/access a file. My gaming experience is a mixed bag and I constantly switch back to 7 for gaming.
I read somewhere where gaming is actually better on Windows 8.1 but I find it better on Windows 10. It may be because I am still on a Hard Drive and just an average GPU GTX 750Ti. Advanced Warfare used to crash all the time on 7, it does not on 10.
When I used Win 7 Pro , it would take almost 3 minutes to restart. Windows 10 is like 45 seconds.. Win 10 Rocks IMHO.

That is a matter of Opinion , as far as the 20 seconds go , it was only a guess. I did not put a stop watch on it. Oh and if You think 7 is so great then for God Sake get a hold of yourself and go back to it.

My machine wakes up from sleep in 7 seconds. This is with hibernation disabled. The shutdown is also very fast. I do not have an SSD either, I have a Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM HDD.
