Apparently the report is a 'crock'!

MSFTBear's report is misleading as they've enabled the icons via StartIsBack! Sorry!
According to that article The icons will change in the next few builds or so. Don’t know what to believe lol!

Honestly, I couldn't care less about the colours of stupid icons.

    Hi folks
In agreement with the 2 previous posts --who really cares about stupid icons on a machine anyway

I prefer nice simple uncluttered type of file explorer like this one I have on one of my NAS systems.

I think we've all got other things to do on computers than worry about icon shapes !!!!!

What is irritating on Windows file explorer is that the wretched default display now breaks it down by date and it's a mess to get the thing simply to display properly with the old bog standard thing of plain proper alphabetical sequence --yes it can be fiddled back but it's a pain. Most people I know usually want files / directories in some sort of sensible alphabetic sequence and only rarely do they need to look for things by specific dates in normal use.

    Cheers

I think they should all flash, randomly, sliding up and down the entire visible spectrum.

I only ever cared about app icons when they were third party, and very complex. I've always hated the simpleton cartoonish icons of Windows. Even when M$ updates them, it's like to go from a two year olds icons, to a three year olds...

I have found the sorting by date handy in only one folder - the Downloads folder. As I go from Windows to any of my Linux distros it does help to refresh this old brain on what I recently downloaded. Otherwise, not.
